Discussion with glassman got me thinking last night. What are your top five favorite restaurants in the city? Not asking you to rate the "best". Just your top five favorites.

Mine, in no particular order, are:

Lillete
August
Mr. B's (for a fun lunch)
Herbsaint
Baru

I realize there are certainly restaurants that could be argued to be better than those above, and I probably like those as well. But these came to mind off the top of my head. List could change later today.

I know it's tough. That's why the list can change from time to time.

Galatoire's,

Depending on my mood and what I'm into at the time, those two certainly could be in the top five. Nothing better than Casamento's during the fall and winter when you've got the hankering.

Only been to Boucherie once and it was very good, but too crowded that night. I have to go again.

I've never gotten the Clancy's thing, but I've only been there about three or four times over the years. Maybe I need to go with a regular and see what the real deal is.

Cafe Minh is fine. Wouldn't be in my top five.

Lunch is the best time to go. I go on Saturday's at 11:30 and am sometimes the only person there.

Been there more than any place, so it is my favorite place.

Cafe Minh

I have always loved his cooking all the way back to the Lemongrass days. His nut crusted fried oysters with asian chili glaze is one of my favorite things to eat.

Casamento's

If this isn't on every list that person should rot in hell.

Loved me some Lemongrass. I need to get out to Minh more often I think.

Stella! (Best modern)

Brigsten's (Best non-traditional creole)

Casamento's (Pleasently surprised to see on so many lists; best fried seafood in the city.)

Cochon/Butcher (Yes I combined them, deal with it bitches! Best cajun.)

Commander's Palace (Best old guard restaurant, even if the changing menu doesn't always reflect it being one.)

Fine! Rio mar/La Boca/A Mano then...deal with it!

Actually, La Boca needs to be in my top 5...not sure who I would drop though.
