Lake Charles TAF Tiger Tour Recap:

This one had a much diff feel than those in the past. The crowd didn't seem to be as enthused as normal. More empty tables than normal.
Plenty of cool LSU stuff was brought for sale. TAF gear, Alumni gear, autographed stuff from coaches, Band gear, prints, etc... was very cool stuff!
Alleva spoke first and talked of budgets. Said they gave $6MM back to the school this year. Said we would see new windows in Tiger Stadium before the start of the 1st game. Said he hopes to bring alot of concerts to PMAC. Talked of conference expansion and admitted it was all about TV markets. Said SEC would want to go into TX and somewhere else in the East. But said all other conferences were adding teams just to be like SEC, best conf in the land.
Miles was next. Talked a bunch about his family. Nice to hear it really but I almost got the feeling it was done on purpose as a PR move. He admitted 9-3 season is no good at LSU. Admitted JJ held on to the ball too long as overcompensation from the J Lee situation. Said anytime a QB holds the ball too long, it puts a huge strain on O line. Said O line is very much improved as is RB. Talked about Zach Lee some. Said he'd almost surely be in pads in the fall. Was asked point blank who would start QB. Said JJ or someone named LEE. Said Chad Jones was recovering nicely.

Crickets will be chirping in houston next week I'm not going to hear a bunch of crap from Miles. At least we had Manieri and the NC last year

Thank you that is very interesting!

well that just gives me a shitload of confidence... 3 years and they all still suck to where he can't name one. I'm sure some of what he said is PR bs, but I have no faith in any of the qb's and sounds like they don't either.

People STILL listens to what Miles says to the media/public?
If you haven't learned by now, then I guess you never will.

This was the situation at the Morgan City TAF Tiger Tour.
I all my years of going, this was the first year I saw a bunch of empty tables. Not a good sign.
In 2004 (03NC) and 2008 (07NC), if you didn't already buy a table, you were standing up the whole time.

not exactly.
JJ is attending media day. no one named LEE is.

It was painful to listen to at times....

It's kind of stupid to have a coach who's the figure head of the program and the face of the university, pay him $4 million, and then basically ignore him.

I feel bad for Miles but I shouldn't because when he goes home at night he is like Woody Harrelson throwing up the cash in the ceiling fan in his bedroom. frick if I was Miles I would buy up the remaining tables and give the tickets out.

Oh yeah.....Miles also urged the crowd to buy as many tickets as they could to Atlanta for the 1st game.

This will turn around when the football team does, and not one day sooner.

A friend of mine here in DC who is a political campaign consultant calls this the "don't kill the puppy" strategy.

All good things to hear. Better would be to hear that it's all fixed and he won't be up there next year having to "admit" that another season was "no good at LSU".
quote:
Said O line is very much improved
Improved over last year's "best OL he's ever had"? Watch out SEC!
quote:
as is RB
Good, but irrelevant if the OL isn't any good.

Andrew Hatch, Jarrett Lee, Jordan Jefferson, hell even T. C. McCartney have all been "in pads" for us. We're still waiting to see someone DO something "in pads".

Can't expect a coach to publicly name a starter before fall practice when there's competition expected.
quote:
Said Chad Jones was recovering nicely.
Good news.

All it means is there's competition for the job. That doesn't always necessarily mean that none of them are any good, although in this case it probably does.

First thing that popped into my mind as well. Everyone wants to see a more productive, well coached team this season. Time to put up or shut up. No coach could help JJ relieve his ball retention issues???

Did the crowd urge Miles to win as many games as he could so we could go to Atlanta for the 13th game?

So the RBs are improved from last year when we had 2 seniors with a ton of experience? I think he's full of it.

That sucks, but I don't blame people. I would not take off from work or go out of my way to hear what will be said. Man this year is crucial.

I don't think anyone had to take off from work for this.....
Started at 6 and Miles didn't speak until about 8:30
