Obviously people don't like PF Chang's because it is a chain, but more so, it is considered to be a Chinese/American fusion type of food.

Then you have all the little Chinese food take out type places. Many don't consider this to be real, authentic Chinese food either.

No real answer for this. China has so many Provinces and diverse Cultures that cook in different styles. I do like Dim Sum and Peking Duck

Go to china town in Houston. The closest available authentic chinese food I believe. Most places there all have authentic chinese food. One of the best places imo is called SiChuan Cuisine. You can get a live fish cooked from the tank for about 14 dollars. They offer anything from snails to rabbit to pig ears to duck tongue (GREAT dish). Give it a try for those who are a bit daring and enjoys spicy foods.

I was aware of it but I've been to Houston a lot. It's not like it's as well known as NYC's or San Fransisco's. I wouldn't be surprised if someone who hasn't spent much time in H Town isn't aware of it

My wife teaches and she has had Chinese children in her classes, the Chinese revere teachers and they have invited us to be guests at family dinners. 99% of you would not care for it, the chicken feet alone would be a deal killer. Most of the dishes I had never seen in a restaurant and that's not occidental, they would not appeal to American tastes.
