A 3.9 and a 23 on his ACT as a high school senior. Does it really matter that much what classes he took as a freshman and if they translate to some American equivalent. He's obviously smart enough to handle college.

It's mind-numbingly stupid they'll try and keep this kid out, yet an American kid who made straight D's for 3 years can have a decent senior season, and then take a bunch of ONLINE courses over the summer to replace the bad grades, barely make a 15 on the ACT, and is considered more qualified than Wing.

BUREAUCRACY.
Regulation as God.
Same as it ever was.

A great kid loses the opportunity of a lifetime so some pointy-headed wanker can have the pleasure of lecturing us about the "need for uniform rules" yada yada yada....

Ok I'm apparently out of the loop on this. Cans someone give me the story of Brad Wing being held out by the NCAA.

He came from Australia to Parkview Baptist in Baton Rouge. Not sure what year though. Made good grades and test scores here in the states, so it's easy to assume he did the same back in Oz. But the NCAA is saying that the classes that he took in Oz don't correlate to classes that he would need to qualify to play football here in the states. Yet somehow Jerrell Powe and Michael Oher were allowed to play football in college.

Apparently 9th grade Australian math isn't equivalent to 9th grade American.........They are apparently not allowing certain courses he took in high school in Australia translate to his required course work to go to college @ LSU despite what is posted above.

So, he has no chance of coming play football here now?

No he is still an LSU commitment but rumor is he will have to play JUCO for a year to become eligible.

It's a freaking brilliant example of how the NCAA is really out to protect the student athlete. I don't see how a lawyer could not defend a kid in this circumstance and get this overruled.

Did the Aussies not dumb down the 9th grade class enough?

Apparently they go by coarse title. He's trying to get course descriptions to the NCAA now.

Wasn't it a possiblity that he was going to grey shirt anyway?

Can he go to a prep school instead of a JUCO?

You would think he woul d go to Prep School to make up the freshamn class he needs. IF he is ruled academically inelligble to come from HS to LSU and goes JUCO, he has to spend two years there and graduate from JUCO to then come to LSU.

The only way he could go JUCO and spend one year is if he was eligible for D-1 in the first place.

Can go to a prep school if he graduates HS? I'm pretty sure he's on track to graduate Parkview no problem, just not be cleared by the NCAA.

+1. Totally asinine and short-sided bureaucratic b.s. IMHO.

If this is the case, then can someone please explain to me how track and field teams and many basketball teams are full of foreign students from shittier places than Australia? Are the schools in the Bahamas, the Congo, and Ethiopis offering courses accepted by US universities? At least Wing speaks English.
