that's the development we want in US youth soccer, and this is the first generation that is really having the exodus

This is also the first generation that includes MLS youth academies. Hopefully this will lead to a bigger pool of quality players.

Most of those guys have been capped, which is good. I'd really like to see some go overseas.

Dynamo Players Getting Capped: Geoff Cameron, Brad Davis, Corey Ashe (not capped yet), Bobby Boswell, Danny Cruz FT One Friendly Cap Win

Davis has already proven that he isn't international quality (as have Mulrooney and Mullan in the early 2000s... those were the guys I was referring to...) I don't think Ashe has what it takes. He's all wheels and not much else.

Cameron will still contribute something, I believe. If we have to play Boswell in central defense, for any reason.... we're fricked.

I'm going to have to make it a point to find a Bedoya game in the fall. Like I said, I've neither been underwhelmed or overwhelmed with him in his two or three caps. He's just been a "nice" player, but of course, internet ruh-tards are already circle jerking around him like he's Freddy Adu's younger, cooler brother.

In fact, I didn't see much difference between what Bedoya brought in his friendly appearances, and what Quaranta brought at the Gold Cup last summer. I really need to see more of him.

To add to my list:

Santino Quaranta
Davy Arnaud
Chris Pontius (should get a few caps in the coming years)
Chris Klein
Brad Evans

I feel like Tim Ream has a chance to get capped and perhaps become an important player for us.

Eric Lichaj could provide depth at right back. I'm hoping Edgar Castillo is capped at left back. We still need a few more players there though.

Logan Pause

Fun fact.... I was going back through my pictures from the Philly trip.... and I knew I recognized this one guy on the sidelines...

It was Logan Pause. Don't know WTF he was doing there. Maybe friends with the Bradleys, perhaps.

We capped Castillo in one of those Slovakia/Denmark friendlies last November.

A great right back, but too old now.

He should be capped within the year. He's looked good.

Does anyone think Jeremy Hall has international quality? He's young, and has played a lot for the Red Bulls. I can't tell if he's another Marvel Wynne though.

He's got more skill on the ball than Marvell Wynne.

Of course, so do I.

I don't really think he's got what it takes.

Add Eddie Gaven to the list of 20-somethings, or is he not at that level?

what's the deal with teams like aresenal, chelsea, etc...?

my friend plays in the national academy league and he played against arsenal over the weekend in their "playoffs." his team was ranked like 9th in the nation and got ran by arsenal 4-1.

Not surprising at all. Arsenal, West Ham and Barca have among the best training academies in the world.

this was an american arsenal though from maybe california. i think it's more than just using the arsenal name, but a lot less than being a team from london

i didn't really explain it well. after looking at their website, im not really finding much of a connection and yet they use the arsenal logo, wear their jerseys, and use the name, so there almost has to be some form of a connection.

I think I've asked you this before, but what skill level are these players actually at/supposed to reach? Any players they can be compared to as far as skill level. (I'm not asking you to go through all the players, but I was wondering if you had a way to elaborate on the actual ability of the players)

Haha Arsenal FC in california has no relation to the actual Arsenal in the premier league. Teams in the US do that with some youth teams just because they either respect the club or think its cool to be named that.

Look at a bunch of baseball youth teams. A lot are called the Red Sox and A's but none have an actual afilliation with the MLB team.

that was the case, but recently, many teams have been forming legitimate partnerships with clubs in europe:

e.g. co rush aj auxerre
