Anyone else a little confused and weirded that the Human Torch will be Captain Star & Stripes? Doesn't seem like a good casting call.

It's like Deadpool becoming Green Lantern.

What?

I don't think he's right for it at all, but we'll see.

And what do you mean Deadpool becoming Green Lantern? Tell me that is a joke.

I'm more worried about Reynolds as Green Lantern than Evans as Capt America.

Reynolds is Van Wilderish in almost(not Amityville) every movie I've seen him in. I'm thinking we're gonna get a Van Wilder Lantern kinda like we got a Clooney Batman.

On the other hand, I've seen Evans play other types of characters than the goof and can see him surprising us as Michael Keaton did with Batman.

i think reynolds has the ability to pull it off. i think they are obviously going for the younger version of hal that does have some van wilderish qualities. hes a young, cocky guy

I agree. I'm not mad at the casting or anything. Hal is part cocky, part serious hero. Reynolds just has more room for error whereas Evans role as Capt America doesn't call for .001% of silliness.

Chris Evans was definitely miscast as Cap. He doesn't have the "apple pie and honored to die for my country" vibe that Cap must posess. Ryan Reynolds was miscast as well as Hal Jordan, man without fear. He would have made a much better Flash, right down to body-type and and smart-mouth. But watcha gonna do?

I think the biggest problem with Evans is that Robert fricking owns as Stark and dominates the scenes he is in.

Correct me if I am wrong (not a comic book guy), but isn't Capt America the leader of the Avengers?

Sorry, I just can't see Downey's Stark being subservient to Evans's Cap. And if they try to force it, it may result in one of the greatest unintentional comedy moments ever.

I agree, he would make a perfect Flash, they should have cast that guy that is on a hot streak right now as the Lantern.

Can't think of his name, but he's playin a role in the A Team now and was in the comedy Hangover.

not to sound like a cmic book nerd, but I read a lot as a kid, Iron Man was always a problem in the Avengers because he was, well, like Downey always wanting to rebel against the group and do things his way, which led to him and Cap getting into numerous fights.

Anyone who is skeptical of Evans being Caps, give Sunshine a watch. I feel we should get something a little more assertive, but that movie is a good indicator. And he was the best performance in the film, I gained a lot of respect for him.

the way i remember it, stark provided his mansion and funding. He basically created the team. cpt america came later.

the movie storyline looks like this is going to be Nick Fury's brainchild though

I'm actually surprised they didn't go with the black Green Lantern. I think Reynolds is good and can pull off any role, but they will have to tamp down his campiness or it could get out of hand.

I know Evans doesn't always play the goof, but he is gonna get walked all over by Downey.

I think a Jon Stewart GL movie would have worked, but they probably would have gotten Will Smith to play him, and I'm kinda Will Smith'd out.
