Apparently Bebee is going to give Tech and Okie Lite their 2 million share.
Then split the other 5's share amongst A&M, OU, and UT giving those schools a total of 5.3 million.
This conference is getting off to a great start

The only happy fans are the ones that were saved from not having a conference. The only winners are the smaller teams and UT. This is simply a band-aid on something that will come up again in the future. There was already great animosity towards teams in this league because of its structure (it’s the only league that doesn’t treat all like equals). It’s a system that was designed for convenience. Animosity creates unrest and when big wig alumni get upset – they begin to look elsewhere – case in point Nebraska. One of the most storied programs in college football left for greener pastures. Mizzou helped start this whole mess - you think they won't bolt for an equal share in the Big 10 if it's offered? As soon as they get a call they are gone. Then what - will they try to add someone else? This conference is doomed...

This is why the conference will not survive over three years. Tech is already not happy, mizzou wasn't/isn't happy, over time the tension will mount and this story plays out again.

The North schools have got to bolt now before they get absolutely screwed.

Don't forget that the fan bases are unhappy. Small potatoes now, but could develop into bigger potatoes in future.

that's the wild part about all of this...all fans bases are pissed. UT's - Sooners and especially A&M's. The UT and Sooner fans see what this is going to do to their schedule - yes, it's easy but also coould leave them out of the big game even if they go undefeated.

Smart OOC scheduling will negate this, but I don't know if they are that smart.

Would make us all smile a little, wouldn't it.

maybe, but why would big schools in big conference schedule ut or ou? only benefits ut or ou. those schools have the conference schedule to help them. this game would only hurt them.
it has to benefit both parties.

Reported in news stories, conference rules say members have to give 2 years notice and forfeit 50% of their conference revenue....and the buyout increases if within the 2 year window.
Who's reporting that formula?

This is from a article on Texas Tech rivals site...

Under the proposed payout, each school in the league is due to receive $2 million each from the $20 million owed by the two exiting schools. Under Big 12 commissioner Dan Beebe's proposal, the five Big 12 schools that were to be left behind would sacrifice their share and have that money paid out to Texas, A&M and OU. In that situation, those schools would receive $5.3 million, while Tech and Oklahoma State would receive $2 million.

Rats...they want a "free trial" to access it. But, it will get picked up by other pubs.

The Vols have a two game series with OU coming up.

So let me get this straight:
1) Nebraska and Colorado leave the Big 12 on their own, and have to pay the conference $10 million each for the choice.
2) The five schools who weren't invited to go to another conference (and who still legally constituted the Big 12 conference, thus holding a valuable asset in an automatic BCS bowl berth) would have to forfeit their share of the payout.
3) However, only three of the five schools that were invited into the Pac-10 would get the proceeds (including one school that didn't really want to go and was thinking about going elsewhere -- A&M).
4) Meanwhile, Tech and Ok State (who were all on board to kiss Bevo's nutless self) don't get any more than the $2 million/school that everyone would have gotten otherwise.
If I was Tech and OK State I would be bitching too.

If Beebe wanted to get things off on the right foot for the 10-team Big 12, this was the exact wrong way to do it.
It's reinforcing that Texas, OU, and A&M are the top dogs, Tech and Okie State are second-tier, and the other guys are just lucky to be there.
