I don't know how it can be looked otherwise. They talked big about the SEC and getting out of UT's shadow but in the end they were forced back. Reality must suck for all those Aggies fans who were on here talking shite about UT. Texas is not losing anything by a.) being able to create their own network b.) being able to dictate the future of the Big 12 c.) having an easier road to the national championship game.

i think it's sort of funny. since friday the aggies fans have been on here and their sites procliaming independence from UT and how the SEC could possibly help them overtake UT. now this.

From where I sit as a casual observer it looks like Texas had big plans to go to the PAC 10 and form a "superconference". They lost Nebraska which is a team with all kinds of college football prestige going way back. They lost Colorado which is kind of meh, but did win a NC I think at one time. They threatened A&M with never playing them again if the Aggies didn't follow them to the PAC 12-16. (And what happened to all that talk about they wanted to seperate from A&M cause the Aggies were bringing down their power ratings). They had to back down and slink back to the Big 12 now less two teams and look for someone to take their place. They apparently salvaged an improved t.v. deal out of the situation. But I think Texas did taste a little slice of humble pie.

there was no gurantee they'd make more money in the pac 10 than with their own network. honestly, they could be just as well off as an independent.

they could work as an independent unless their program starts to suck ... they don't have the national following who'll stick with them through the rough years

it was clear that t.u backed out of the Pac-10 when A&M was REALLY considering the SEC deal.

the rest, however, falls on our Board of Regents for not doing what the Aggie Alums wanted. Or maybe it was something else. we'll probably never get the full story.

No they didn't, A&M didn't have a choice. The SEC never offered. The SEC wanted OU & UT, A&M was a tag along at best.

You guys have no clue what kind of stepping stone this was for the SEC.

Not only did we prevent the Pac 16, but A&M was ready to tell Texas to frick off... OU also strongly considered the SEC according to someone on the UT board of Regents.

This Expansion Fiasco has started a close relationship with OU and A&M. If something like this comes up again UT probably will not like the results.

In the end the group that this person was apart of won out... MANY from UT were against going to the Pac 10, and A&M strongly leaning to the SEC really hit Texas hard. It was a huge shot to their ego.

Can't blame the Aggie fans for this one. They wanted to come to the SEC badly.

Their Board of Regents sold them out, basically, and they're pissed about it.

Maybe someday Aggie fans. Keep the faith.

How do you know that. If the the moves were made it would have forced the SEC to add teams and aTm would be a good fit along with someone from the ACC.

agree

I think this experience may have opened the door for OU and A&M in the future more than would have ever been likely before

I agree. I think Texas got caught off guard when A&M and OU dared to not follow them west. UT getting the deals they wanted from the Big 12 forced A&M and OU to come back this time. However, if UT tries to screw everyone again down the road, OU and A&M will bail instantly into the SEC's open arms.

How do you know that.

The Pac-10 was looking to invite Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas Tech to join Colorado for a 16-team league. A&M was trying to get interest from the SEC. There was some early interest from the school, but no formal offer from the SEC. ESPN.com

A&M didn't have a choice
