Still says its SEC bound along with the University of Missouri.

"Just talked to Gabe from the Missouri site and they have been told by what they consider VERY good sources that not only did A&M get what they wanted from the SEC, but the suggestion has been made that Missouri be SEC team 14. They're also saying the Big 12 concept is gaining steam and that they will not make a move on their own. In other words, they're waiting on A&M to split."

I like it, but doubt it.

From Kansas City Star

One of those “other conferences” A&M has talked to is the SEC. And overnight, on several SEC-related Internet sites, Missouri has been put forth as a possible candidate to join A&M in making the SEC a 14-team league.

Missouri officials refused to confirm or deny any validity to that speculation, with MU chancellor Brady Deaton on Sunday night repeatedly saying Missouri was devoted to making sure the Big 12 -- even without Colorado (Pac-10) and Nebraska (Big Ten) -- remains a viable conference.

A&M I can believe.

Mizzou? That's more of a stretch. I don't think that the St. Louis and KC markets are worth THAT much to us.

Adding TV markets = more $$$$.

They will eventually add two more in the East to go to 16:

VT and..?

3 Tigers in the SEC... we need to change our name to "Bayou Bengals" officially.

Mizzou is a possibility. I don't really wantthem, but I understand the attraction: TV markets and still a southern state, but with a midwest pull.

If they are going to eventually be at 16, they should just go ahead. If they take Missou and A&M, they would have to realign the divisions. Then, if they added 2 in the east at a later date, they would need to realign again. Bama, Auburn, and Vandy (or whomever was involved in the realignments) are going to get tired of switching divisions.

I do, however, like the realigned divisions if A&M and Missou come aboard and we leave it at 14.

West
Missou
A&M
Arkansas
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss St
Vandy

East
Bama
Auburn
Tennessee
Florida
Georgia
Kentucky
South Carolina

I like our chances to get to Atlanta 4 out of 5 years.

No way would they throw Bama and Auburn to the east while Vandy comes over with Ole Miss and State. That's not even close to fair to those teams in the east.

Really, I've never heard an actual LSU fan use the term "Bayou Bengals" in a serious manner.

The bigger conference would finally put an end to the constant opponent from the other division. The only way to play the Iron Bowl, Bama Tenn, and UGA Aub games every year is to put them all together. It'll be up to those four teams to decide if they want their traditions or competitive balance.

I would think you would have to go North/South on the divisions.

South

aTm
LSU
Ole Miss
Miss St
Bama
Auburn
Fla

North

UGA
USC
Mizzou
Vandy
Tenn
Kentucky
Arkansas

I don't really see how the divisions could be fair if A&M and Mizzou both join the SEC. The only way would be to break up Alabama and Auburn, which won't happen, or add two more schools to the east, which I think is unlikely in the near future.

I think A&M could eventually become very strong in the west, but it's going to take time. In the meantime, LSU would win the SECW most years, especially if they get rid of Les.

If we have Missouri and A&M, Florida HAS to get over it and permit FSU or Miami to join the conference.

Then, the South is even stronger than the East would have been in the other scenario.
