You would have to think all of those East Texas kids we have been able to get will be much more likely to stay in-state if all of the benefits of playing in the SEC can be realized at TAMU.

I'm not saying this would be some kind of death blow to LSU or anything, but it would impact us more than any other SEC school.

careful. They might whack this thread like they did mine.

Evidently this board is only for "what-ifs"

Pank I heard the same thing you did, I read about it on the Spirit board. Supposedly Scott Van Pelt said it on his radio show.

It's not entirely about the conference. A kid that wants SEC football will not choose one school just because of conference affiliation. The team should offer the kid the best chance to get better (possibly for NFL) and win games.

Likely, SVP and the Spirit got it from the same person I did or that person got it from the same person they did.

as far as I can tell none of this is good for any program when it comes to the actual sports.

i don't think so....

- what elite recruit is going to pick A&M over LSU? More NC's, higher year in and year out BCS ranking, and more talent put into the NFL.

- Secondly, now that A&M and Texas supposedly won't be in the same conference. So, Texas won't be too worried about gobbling up every ounce of talent in the state so that A&M doesn't get their leftovers.

I actually think it will be a good thing for LSU, whooping up on TAMU in college station for the next few years would give us massive exposure in Texas.

If A&M being in the SEC makes them committ more money to the program, build new facilities etc etc than yes it may hurt LSU recruiting in Texas.

But the fact of being in the SEC alone is not something I would worry about

One from Texas. Just like kids from LA are loyal to LSU, texas kids want to play for the horns and aggies. The biggst recruiting tool LSU had in Texas was the SEC, now you wont have that. TAMU will get recruits that previously would've gone to Texas or LSU, but if we add them A&M will only improve

The biggest tool was a commitment to winning and having a better program.

Like I said if being in the SEC gives aTm a new sense of commitment to being a premier program than yes it will matter but if they stay the same, switching conferences will matter little

foot on neck.

I think LSU should schedule RICE now and then for the same effect.

Good point houtiger. And not just help LSU's exposure, the other SEC teams as well. Texas kids are very aware of LSU and arky due to proximity and Bama because theyre bama, but I could see OM, MSU, and Auburn getting a lot of good exposure in the Texas. Especially with high school students who cant get into A&M. OM is full of Texas kids who couldn't get into UT or TAMU. Playing them every year would only increase this number

Problem is, A&M used to wax LSU's arse.

A&M's facilities are already nicer than LSU's, still doesn't facter in the better reason to LSU over A&M.

winning.

Any also, who is to say it won't benefit LSU w/ kids in Texas, knowing they will play in Texas?? If LSU gets outrecruited by A&M, then that it is on the LSU coaches for letting our team fall (fail)...
