so can you guys please stop including them in expansion scenarios? Georgia and Auburn already carry the Atlanta market.

Georgia Tech adds nothing to the SEC
If Georgia Tech adds nothing, the ACC wouldn't have added them in 1978. If the SEC added GT, it would reduce the cost of travel for the non-revenue sports, and it would take the Atlanta market away from another conference.
It saves money and gains tv sets.
I think the SEC should add GT because it is a good school to add.

They could join Vandy as GPA boosters, except they actually have decent football tradition

Addition by attrition. Plus tradition.

True, plus they left the SEC. We shouldnt let them back in

GT would add a lot. Not only are they one of THE top academic institutions in the southeast but they are very solid across all 3 major SEC sports.

It's nauseating how many times their name is brought up.

Just because they were a good move for the ACC in 1978, which didn't already have a team in Georgia, doesn't make it a good fit for the SEC in 2010, which does already have a team in Georgia.

one thing adding GT could potentially do is water the recruiting market down in the area for Georgia, Bama and Auburn. They would give local kids a chance to play in the SEC and stay in town.

We have 2 teams from Mississippi, Alabama and Tennessee and you're worried about adding one from Georgia???

definitely adds to the academics
GT is good in the big3 men's sports (BCS last year in football, national seed this year in baseball but choked, would be good in bball if not for Hewitt) and pretty good in most girl sports

they would add a team that runs the triple option

Let's bring Tulane and Sewanee back while we are at it.

Personally, I wouldn't mind it one bit. But I don't care about gaining TV market share like the commisioner and current SEC member institutions do.
