Here's what you do if you're Texas, really.

You're Texas. You're perhaps the most powerful school there is. Take control here.
You're tied to Texas A&M, which isn't a problem because you want them in your conference no matter what.
Just start from scratch and form a new Southwest Conference, ally yourself with the Cotton Bowl, and sign a deal starting with the next BCS contract, which likely will have the Cotton in the BCS rotation.
So who do you invite to your club?
Oklahoma (and, therefore, Oklahoma State) is the obvious first choice. Then I think you take the two Kansas schools. We're now at 6, and we have two ways to go with this. Eight teams is the minimum for a BCS auto-bid, and 12 is the minimum for a championship game.
At this point, a lot could happen, but doesn't this seem to be the obvious way to go for Texas? Why are they sitting and waiting to be invited--shouldn't they be the ones behind the wheel here?

They are the most powerful school, but they are in the weakest conference in their region. They can't pull schools from the SEC,PAC 10, Or Big 10.

Do you know how many basketball units / TV revenue / DOLLARS they would lose by forming their own conference from scratch, xiv?
Obviously not.

I haven't really taken the time to totally understand all this conference shifting, so can someone tell me why everyone is trying to get out of the Big 12?

Sure. But, first, one very important question:
is ULM in this new conference?

The big12 is in this mess because of Texas. They wouldn't agree to a conference TV deal that would share the revenue. Why the frick would the teams that are getting screwed by Texas back them up?

I honestly don't know, truthbetold. I haven't heard anything from ULM in this matter--who knows what they're up to.
I take it that you don't know what you're talking about.

horrible tv contracts, and unbalanced sharing of revenue that greatly favors Texas

I just don't believe it's that bad. If it was, why wouldn't the other 11 Big 12 schools vote to expel Texas?
Obviously the good outweighs the bad when it comes to an association with Texas.

because they can make more money in other conferences
Big 12 could try and salvage something by adding Houston or SMU or TCU type teams but they still end up being overwhelmingly regional
If Nebraska has indeed left the Big 12 they are in serious trouble - Big 12 North without Nebraska is like Pam Anderson without the tits

this is basically how they formed the Big 12.. and everyone hates it..

because no one wants to watch just the other 11. That's why they're trying to latch on with other conferences that people do want to watch.
or they're Baylor, Kansas, KSU, and ISU who are frickED
