This entire weekend we had PATHETIC coaching.. CPM must have stayed home mentally. Friday is still one of the worst managed games I have seen in a long time then throw in today's lack of bunting its mind blowing.. fricking Gaudet is good enough to bunt as a DH 2 times but Gibbs who CPM has said MANY MANY times is one of our best bunters swings away..

Im not gonna crucify him for not bunting.

we obviously have issues in this department.......we had been rallying and getting hits. I can't blame him for doing what he did. Either way, he is in a tough spot with a lot of fans. Someone already said it but either way he gets crucified.

Bunting is part of the game fundamentals and as
much as i believe in Coach Manieri this needs to
be addressed next season, for reals!

FWIW, a sac bunt is supposed to be a sure thing.

Nonetheless, it's over now, we took a gamble with our best hitter at the plate and it didn't work out.

I'm a huge supporter of Mainieri (and will continue to be), but we shoulda bunted there.

DING DING DING.

Finally someone else sees what has existed all along.

LSU has won the past few seasons are pure, elite, we are better than you talent. They have not won because they are a fundamental team.

I saw more fundamentals in the 5A state championship game than I see that LSU games--which is a joke, IMO.

PM is still a great coach, he just needs different assistants.

Well said. No one is saying they are smarter or more qualified than PM, but it was not a smart move. Period.

I enjoyed the season and am very happy and thankful for both PM and all our players. Look forward to more championships on years to come.

A sac bunt is supposed to be one of the most "sure" plays in baseball for a fundamental team.

I agree with this to some extent as well. We swing at FAR too many poor pitches and bail people out. Other teams force our pitchers to put the ball in the zone and have taken advantage over the course of the season as well as this weekend.

If we had this same approach at the plate plus our talent I believe we would still be playing this year. (Yes, I do realize we won it all last year. I am speaking of this year when we didn't have the freakish talent that we had last year)

In case you didn't notice, Nola hit a fly ball to right field which would have scored Mahtook.

In case you didn't know, and obviously you don't, that is the dumbest argument in baseball. There is no way to know how they would have pitched to Nola with runners on 2nd and 3rd instead of 1st and 2nd, you can not assume everything would have played out the exact same way. Incredibly bad argument.

Baseball is all about playing the odds and percentages. With two on and no outs in the eigth inning you bunt. Winning run on first, no outs you bunt. Gibbs is a veteran player if he can't lay down a sacrifice then who's fault is that? You pinch hit for Gaudet and bunt. Gorilla ball is long gone with the new bats. You have to be able to execute fundamental baseball to win in college today. I like Mainieri and think he is a good coach. But he made some bad calls this weekend.

Just about any argument against bunting in that situation is an

for something to be sure means there can be no failure...sac bunts fail sometimes.

Agreed. But a good team should be able to execute a simple sacrifice.

It's over now, so all we can do is be thankful for another good year and cheer for the next team up - Football.

Uhh I would take my chances with a runner on 2nd and 3rd that Nola who has been excellent making contact comes through.
