8 biggest SEC games of his career = TERRIBLE

Look, I don't want to kick a guy when he's down, and a lot of people seem to be piling on him unfairly now. But let's not rewrite history here. JR was not a great QB for big games, and that's always been his #1 drawback.

The levels you stoop to suck on JR

he was like 18/20 for 330 yards, 3 TDS, no picks

against a BCS-level opponent

College
In 1986, Hodson went to the Louisiana State University (LSU). As quarterback for LSU's football team, Hodson led LSU to two SEC Championships, first as a freshman (1986) and then as a junior (1988). During his 44 regular season games at LSU (1986-1989), Hodson passed for 9,115 yards and 69 touchdowns, becoming the first quarterback in SEC history to surpass 8,000 career passing yards, and the first quarterback in SEC history to surpass 60 career passing touchdowns. Hodson passed for over 2,000 yards during each of his four seasons at LSU, becoming the 3rd player in NCAA history to achieve that feat. During his freshman season, Hodson was voted to the first team All-SEC Team, becoming the first LSU quarterback to awarded that honor since the legendary Bert Jones (first team All-SEC Team, 1972). Hodson would go on to be selected to the first team of the All-SEC Team during each of his four seasons at LSU, becoming the only player in LSU history to achieve that feat.

A LOT of first time achievements in his career. Really separates him from JR as far as accomplishments in his own era.

No way JR compares jsut because of a 4 game run that many are using as supportive evidence.

How many LSU QBs have more than 1 win against a Top 10 team on the road?

You really want to compare Russell's career to Hodson's?

Really? Just stats wise? Really?

You do love you some JR panties don't you.

Hodson's career was easily better than JR's, but do entertain us...

I'd have to agree with you Saint. Tom Hodson is best LSU QB of all-time. I never saw Bert Jones, but I would have to say that he would be a close 2nd. Russell, Davey, Mauck, Flynn would receive mention for obvious reasons, but all-around, nobody touches Hodson.

Don't bother. Hodson never threw for close to 3,000 yards in a season. He was a 4-time first team All-SEC though. Can't find the stats, but he was typically around 2,400 yards, 20TD/7 Int.

Based on a career, anyone would be a freaking retard to argue against Hodson.

JR had a great '06 season, Jones had a great (for his time) in '72

For a career, its Hodson ...hands down. Let the tardation continue.

Would it be fair to say Russell played against a much, much tougher SEC?

89 vs 06, Hodson was 4 yards per game behind Russell...11 games vs 13 for Russell
