I have to say Hodson, IMHO

Pure, accurate passer. (it didn't hurt having Davis on the other end of many of his passes)

Based on his whole career, I would say so.

I agree.

Tittle was better in the pros, Woodley started a Super Bowl, and Bert Jones also won an NFL MVP one year, but I don't think anybody else has ever been named 1st Team All-SEC QB four times. Over the course of a 4-year college career, no LSU QB has been better than Hodson.

Not being an arse, but did you guys see Hoson at "his peak"?

We didn't exactly run 4 wides back then. The spread wasn't thought of yet really.

I argue that in todays offenses, Hodson would have had HUGE numbers. It's tough to compare, but like someone said, FIRST TEAM ALL SEC many times in basically a run first offense.

The Ruston Rifle, and not just because we're from the same hometown.

I can agree with this.

LSU's offense in its 8 games against the 3 best SEC rivals (UF/AU/UGA) from 2004 to 2006 was a huge disappointment, but JR's performance in his last 4.5 games as a Tiger was truly out of this world. It was probably the best streak of games ever by an LSU QB.

the spread was around, just not popular

we didn't run spread with JR either. he ran a pro-style offense

All SEC is a popularity contest. Wasn't Josh Booty first team one year???

Jamarcus Russell hands down.....at least in my lifetime. I've never seen a more clutch guy when the game was on the line at LSU.

My personal favorite - Herb Tyler

Hodson every year of his career better than JR.
