If it was mostly Matt Clark, then how did Dean put up such good numbers last season?

Dean had just 2 HRs midway through the season and got hot with the rest of the lineup .. jared mitchell in front of him was almost constantly on base and gibbs, ochinko, and mahtook were producing behind him ... and don't forget .. cummulatively, dean didn't put up the numbers last year that he had the year before with clark behind him ..

Why aren't people getting on Leon Landry more?

last season, landry hit 8 HRs in the first month and then went into the toilet the rest of the season after that and the emergence of mikie put him on the bench .. dean struggled early too .. as long as landry is producing somewhat in the 6 hole he is mega valuable because he will take away runs and bases for you defensively in CF ...

It comes across as such when you say things like:

does he seem pretty overrated??

And he did the same thing the year before (sophomore season).
I don't see how everyone around him getting on caused him to hit better. Gibbs is hitting behind him now and is hitting over .400.

he's hitting .233 in SEC play, that's not good enough for me

meh.....Mahtook could play just as well defensively in CF, did it last year.

I think Natural was concerned about Blake's inability to park a 3-run job this year. I kind of agree. While his BA is healthy, he's yet to put up the power numbers we'd hope for. Definitely not overrated, just hasn't met our lofty expectations of him. When he hits one, he can hit 7-8 in 10 games. I for one am ready for that streak

That's my point. How can anyone use overrated and Dean in the same sentence is beyond me.

He is on pace to have his best RBI season, but his homers are down. We all know he is streaky.

i dont know how anyone can question or bash Blake Dean after all that he has proven

What somebody's done in the past doesn't mean jack-shite as regards the present. Just ask Les Miles.

I think Dean is a great college hitter. But he has become overrated to me personally because I have such high expectations every time he bats. Hopefully he turns in on soon.

I watch Dean and see a very long swing. He obviously is an above average college hitter, but that swing will be challenged at the next level. Schimpf had a much more efficient swing.

I think Blake would agree, Slumps are not fun but everyone has them. Batting .336 & a .996 fld. pct. isn't shabby. He isn't "SUPERMAN" even though people would like him to be. The team as a whole has issues that need to be addressed for instance "Pitching, bullpen, throwing stikes." More depth than just one starting pitcher. "Hitting by everyone more consistently, not leaving runners on base & being unable to push in runs.Coaching decisions made quicker like pulling pitchers when they give up bombs or walks or hits.

It's just you. Dean was the best player in the country the last half of his soph year and made 1st team AA. He started slow but played like an AA the second half last year. He's playing o.k. but not great so far this season. Past history tells us he will heat up as the season goes along. That's baseball.

starting a thread saying you think he's overrated is bashing IMO. you must have been wearing a blind fold for the past 3+ years to think Dean is overrated. I remember him hitting a homerun in his first at bat at the old Box. if someone had said he's one of the greatest hitters LSU has ever had after he hit his 1st, then that would be overrating.

look at what he's done... he's been our best hitter from the day he stepped on the campus. stand behind your opinions if you feel strongly enough to start a thread for it. don't cop out and hide behind 'oh i wasnt bashing him'

i swear some of you will find anything to bitch about in an attempt to sound ahead of the game.

DEAN IS ONE OF THE BEST HITTERS WE'VE EVER HAD. GIVE IT A REST
