Jim does seem tired. I know that he is in his mid-60's. I think it is too much on him calling so many ballgames in three different sports. I respect his skills and as a former neighbor, he was once one of my teen-age idols. I just think he needs to get more rest and maybe just do basketball and football games.
Perhaps, Milo Hamilton is still around ? Some anouncers stay around forever.

Hawthorne is getting bad, hate to see it happen to an announcing legend. He's done his time, let's get a new guy!

So...you're a college student and have a serious hard on for a 60-something announcer? And you're not related to the guy?
I can see some nostalgic old farts like myself who listened to him since college having a soft spot for him...but you? I dont get it. The guy is negative until something positive happens...its his M.O. lately. It's old.

seriously, his negativity during football has really rubbed off, often sounds just like the rant
Interesting, isn't it?

I want someone real doing the games, not some guy not in touch with the reality of the game.
That's the problem, he's NOT in touch with the reality of the game. If you're not there, you're not in touch with it either. He's creating the reality for you. People who are fans are emotional in any case when listening/watching lsu sports. You can either stomp on the accelerator with these emotions, or at least have the professional courtesy to carry out your job like you're paid to do. You're not there to incite, and if anything, you're there to give fans hope, not to drag their fandom, sons, daughters, and school through your emotional mud pit.

He called the baseball game, and was less than "God like" so he clearly needs to retire now.
Are you some old f*&k that personally identifies w/ Hawthorne b/c you're also beginning to experience memory lose and ramble aimlessly about god knows what?

Yeah I'm sure the guy who has had more to do with LSU baseball than anyone on this site didn't give a shite about the outcome, he just wanted to go home

Definition of irony:
People complaining about the announcer talking negatively about their beloved LSU on the site that is far and away the most negative towards anything that is LSU sports.
Amazing.

Tried to show the correlation earlier. And that's not really ironic.
Ironic is if we came on here to talk positively about hawthorne's negative playcalling on a negative site.

I can remember listening to basketball games where we would go on a little dry spell and everything he would say over the next 5 minutes would be in that sarcastic tone.
I'd take Hannagriff over him anyday.
