Cecchini suffered a knee injury last week and will be examined by Dr. James Andrews today. His dad said he is out indefinitely and may miss the rest of the season. I don't have a link, but its in the American Press today.Hope its not too serious.

That obviously not the way I wanted to see him on campus, but if it pulls the trigger, better for all.

Agreed, definitely not something to about.Who knows it may not be a disastrous injury, but Dr. Andrews being involved is not a good sign for the kid.

Actually having Dr Andrews as their orthopaedic doctor is probably the best news an injured player could have.

Very Very big News for LSU baseball fans!

Kid was projected as a 1st rounder this year. Would immediately see playing time if he makes it to campus.

We can't forget in 06 when Ryan Adams (2B) was thought to be coming to campus after a much smaller knee injury but was drafted by the O's in the 2nd round. However, Adam's didn't want anything to do with college at the time. (Smoke Laval)

If it is a torn ACL, how big of a drop in the draft would you guesstimate?

The bad news of the day was that Barbe High School (Lake Charles, La.) 3B Garin Cecchini was diagnosed with a torn ACL Tuesday and is out for the rest of the spring. Cecchini is one of the top left-handed hitters in the country and a potential top-3 round pick. I was planning on going to Lake Charles on Thursday to see Cecchini and his teammate, slugging 1B Hommy Rosado, play in a 6 p.m. game. I definitely have to rethink that game and the close to four-hour drive it would take to get there.

Not to hijack my own thread, but he has 15 homeruns in 15 games.

It's all about signability (no matter what other poster comes on this thread and brings up ZVR.) Right now I would consider Cecchini a fairly strong commit to LSU unlike (Adam's in 06).

With Garin now sitting the rest of the spring scouts are not going to be able to watch him in his senior season. They've seen film on him from combines and previous games, but nothing leading up to the draft.

In turn with limited to no scouts being able to see him physically play the buzz will dwindle a bit over the next few months. GM's from MLB teams during the draft will rethink and start to second guess picking a Highschool talent they have not seen in over a year vs someone they have scouted the entire Feb-May.

This will definently drop him out of the first couple of rounds, but a team may still take a shot at him (4th-10th rounds) just to see if they can sign him.

Tough lick for Garin, but this is a very interesting turn of events.Hopefully he heals up, turns down the money and comes to LSU.Not that I'm biased or anything.

One kid I would love to see in an LSU uniform. Has All-American written all over him.

I saw him in Jupiter lst fall and Garin is a rare blend of size and speed.. your right,, he drops some but clubs still will take a chance on him. Doctors have ACL repair down pretty good and the word is there is no other damage other than ACL. I would imagine that his chances of being on campus go up pretty good.. waiting 3 years to get paid wont hurt this kid.

I heard from a WM baseball player that this kid went 9 for 9 with 5 HRs and 8 RBIs. In the East Assention (sp) tournament this year.

Then at the WM tournament a couple of weeks ago he hit a BOMB. Looked like it might have landed on the football field. No joke. Had to have been 475+
