Looking at buying a 360.. Friend of a friend has a used one, thinks a 120 gig hard drive, one controller, 2 headsets, all connections.. 3 games (grand turismo, army of two, and something else older) and a year xbox live...Asking $200.. Worth it??
Or should i look into this one brand new??

used can be the way to go. I bought one of craigslist a while ago. It's important that he hasn't activated the warranty yet. If he has then any time he has been playing counts off your 3 years of RR. Also, consider the size of your friends hard drive. The one I bought only had a 20 gig and upgrading that can get expensive. otherwise, it's just going with what youre more comfortable with

Why do people keep saying this? There is no limit on how old your console is for them to fix the RROD for free. It is a manufacturer's defect, akin to an auto recall. They will fix it for free for the life of the console.
Check the new Forza 3 and Halo 3:ODST bundle out. It's pretty sweet and the best deal I've ever seen.

excuse me. i meant to say that if your friend activated the warranty and registered the console, the manufacturer is not liable for it breaking second hand. So, if you buy your friend's xbox and he already activated the warranty, you would have to get him to deal with customer service to get it fixed. For me, that was a big deal because I couldn't count on the guy off of craigslist to help me get it fixed if it were to break. if you know the guy well, it's probably not a big deal.

I'm not trying to be a dick, but legally speaking, no matter the degrees away from the original purchaser, the manufacturer is still liable for a manufacturing defect that is inherent in its design.

What if you've tried to fix it already(opened the case)?

No. I'm sorry, instead of saying "what I meant" I should have said "Also,". Just trying to provide more insight on the matter. Thanks for pointing that out.
I am not going to argue whether or not you consider RROD and E74 to be manufacturer defects. The way I understood it, which may be wrong, is that the warranty for any malfunction was one year. Later, they upped the RROD and E74 to 3 years. In my experience of buying a used 360, I chose one that had yet to be registered. I personally would rather do that and have a 3 year warranty on said malfunctions than have to argue manufacturer defects with microsoft. As an aside, if it were to break inside or outside warranty, I would rather my 360 be registered to me rather than have to go through another person.
