Lord of the Rings >>>>>>>> Star Wars

I tried to watch the original Star Wars trilogy TWICE and couldn't do it. Nothing exciting about it at all imo. Sure, the effects were nice for its time but I thought overall it sucked.

Meanwhile, The Lord of the Rings was breathtaking. The battle scenes, effects, etc. were top notch. The acting and story were miles ahead of what I saw in Star Wars.

I meant to start a thread about LOTR, asking why the fanboys liked it so much. I thought it was incredibly long, mostly ghey, and overly average. I finally completed all three films, and I must say I think I was better off before seeing them.

I'll take the original Star Wars trilogy.

The LOTR are three of my favorite movies ever. Love the books, and can't wait for the Hobbit to come out.
I actually like Star Wars. And can respect how far it was ahead of it's time. But I cannot get around the TERRIBLE acting from the two main stars.

Star wars and it's not even a contest. Lotr is vastly overrated. I don't think it has any replay value. Star wars is something I can watch over and over

I like them both but original star wars > new star wars. I also liked the matrix trilogy. I am a huge nerd. Ironically I was trying to look up a gandolph quote last night.

LOTR Trilogy are my favorites of all time. I've never seen any Star Wars so I can't compare them. But I don't think I'll ever like anything as much as I like the LOTR Trilogy

Trust me, the Mr. Frodo and Samwise the Brave scenes left something to be desired, too.

Original Star Wars >>>>>>>>>INFINITY>>>>>> LOTR

LOTR >>>>>>>>> New Star Wars

To even compare the LOTR trilogy to the original Star Wars movies is laughable IMO.

Actually both of those were money IMO.
Like I said, I like both. And I respect SW. But LOTR story is much better. Tolkien > Lucas.
And your obviously just a hater so your opinion is going to be one sided.

i like LOTR better but not by much. the real drawback being the Frodo and Sam Two Towers scenes. i don't remember them being boring the first time i saw it but i skip that crap now. that being said, Star Wars has two whole movies that i would skip.

the books did a better job of conveying how humble and loyal Sam was so a compliment like that would surprise him more than a regular person. in the movie it comes off as a little hokey

ROTK battle scenes >>>>>>>>>>> any SW battle

Hmm. Can you even compare these two? They're different kinds of movies, imo. I like them both very much. I wasn't around for original star wars, but I did dress up for premiere of LOTR:TTT

I did not intentionally refer to any scenes in particular, I just thought their interactions left something to be desired after the fellowship (the first movie). I liked the fellowship, but for me it went down hill after that.

Obviously just one opinion, but what in yours or anyone else's makes the LOTR series... what do you like most about it?

Lord of the Rings. Star wars fricking sucks, and doesn't entertain me one bit..tried watching that before and turned it off.
