wow, I can't believe an MLS team actually built their own stadium - thats crazy to me
Why?
Colorado, Columbus, LA/Chivas, Dallas, New York, Chicago, Toronto and Salt Lake ALL have their own stadiums. Philly's is being completed right now, and Portland and Vancouver will have their own when they join MLS in 2011.
KC, Houston and DC are all rumored to have one "in the works."

Construction on KC's stadium has already begun. I believe they said it should be completed and open by the start of the 2011 season.
Houston is relatively close with the team having put up the money for the stadium themselves, but the city needs to put up money for infrastructure improvements for the downtown location to happen and there is political wrangling over the tax zone that needs to be implemented to pay for that.
DC is kind of screwed right now.. political will in the area is strongly anti-stadium (thanks in part to the Nationals). Baltimore is looking at options for funding a new soccer-specific stadium...

honestly didnt realize the MLS was making any money

That DC stadium is a disaster. Was supposed to be here, there, everywhere.
And that's a DAMN good fanbase there. They could fill a 40,000 seat stadium most of the time.
RFK is atrocious. I was there for MLS Cup '07, and it is a DUMP.

friend of mine lives there and would go see Nats games before they moved out. said you would be covered in falling rust particles by the time the game was over

The Columbus Crew has their own stadium...
Crew Stadium: The OG of Soccer Specific Stadiums
Rio Tinto in Sandy, Utah home of Real Salt Lake: The old large breasted woman of current SSS. Red Bull stadium will probably eclipse Rio's C Cups with it's D cups.
Pizza Hut Park: Nice stadium, shite club.
Dick's Sporting Goods Park: Rio Tinto's older, slightly less hot cousin.
Home Depot Center: Great facilities, decent stadium. National Team games should never be played here unless we want thousands of Hondurans.
Chester Stadium: Home of the expansion Philadelphia Union
Toyota Park: The House Bob Bradley Built
Red Bull Arena: PIIHB, IWHI etc.

I'm 99% sure this is fault. At least from a monetary standpoint (if you want to argue that being on ESPN/ABC rather than Versus/NBC, regardless of money, is a better deal, OK).

I hear that is a great place to watch big name concerts.

it looks like PG county maryland is going to be the place, but putting it in northern va would make much more sense

Who's been to any of the SSS?
I've been to Dick's, Toyota Park, Pizza Hut Park, and hitting RB Arena in a few weeks.

Columbus Crew Stadium many, many times, but that's the only one I've been to.

I'll admit, I love old, historical grounds/stadia/arenas, etc.
But damn, that looks like a Premiership ground all the way around from the transparent half of the roof extending over, to the way it's right on the street. What a FANTASTIC venue!!!!
Red Bull OWN the team. They also OWN a team in Salzburg, Austria.

The pictures don't do it justice, but Dick's SG Park is really nice.
