Big Miscast

Has anyone ever found out how Jack Black got the role in King Kong? One of the biggest miscast of a role in recent memory IMO. I just could not buy him in that movie. Ruined it for me. Anyone got any others off the top of their head?

I actually liked him in this movie. I think he plays a backstabbing creep very well.

I hate jack black and everything he has ever done, but I don't think it was a stretch to cast him as a sleazy promoter.

I agree, I thought Jack Black was a nice fit.

Jack blacks one perfect role was School of Rock. He has made a living off of that movie.

I think if you didn't know who Jack Black was that most people wouldn't have a problem with him. The problem with Jack Black is it is now almost impossible to take him seriously, which made him bad for the role. Personally I liked him in the film and think he played the role well.

jack black had just the right energy to play a sleazy director/producer trying to sell a new movie out in bfn

That entire movie was as poorly cast as any I remember.
As a contrast, the Harry Potter movies are some of the best casting I've seen. Those characters are just as I saw them when I read the first few books. Rickman as Snape is perhaps the best cast character in history. Before the first movie came out, my wife and I were playing the "cast this book" game and both agreed that he should be Snape.

I remember thinking that there is no way Tom Hanks can pull off that kind of roll when Philadelphia was first advertised. ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/IconLOL.gif)
