At the college level, Ensminger served as an assistant at Nicholls State (1982-1983), McNeese State (1984-1986), Louisiana Tech (1988-1990), Georgia (1991-1993), Texas A&M (1994-1996) and Clemson (1997-1998). At Clemson, Ensminger was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
He was a high school coach at West Monroe too.
And we see Alex. , L.C. and Ruston.
Seems like he ought to know the area, and be of use in recruiting LA.

Really? because of a friggin' TE coach? Jesus...
This isn't the NFL. There is a set number of coaches allowed on staff, so you gotta make the limited staff slots count. You need them to be either technically competant at coaching a key position or a great recruiter(or both).
Ensminger is neither of these.
Les could have brought in a young recruiter, or a qb coach instead this slot is basically wasted.

another nail my arse. after the investment they made in the D coaches this offseason I'm convinced les's arse isn't even close to being on the hot seat ![](https://images.tigerdroppings.com/Images/Icons/Iconbanghead.gif)

I didn't say the coffin would be complete after this season.

I am genuinely surprised by the level of emotion surrounding this hire. I am not saying he is a great coach (I honestly don't know one way or another), but tight ends coach just seems like a non-issue. You guys act like he is going to affirmatively teach our players to suck.

"Plus, ya gotta love those 1982 graduates of Louisiana State University.........."
Back atcha, bro!
As I remember it, sitting in the stands during the Woodley/Ensminger era, Dave was more of a runner and Steve more a thrower. Coach Mac put them both in at once a few times for some trick plays that worked...sometimes.....

Perhaps it would be a good idea to have an official Assembly of Rantards that Miles would have to convene in order to get approval for major decisions about the program.

what in the world makes any of you think this guy would be a good QB coach?
B/c any coach is an improvement over our QB coach from last year.

what does that have to do with his ability to recruit players? different coaches etc. will have an effect on the players development.

all the ensminger family offspring seem to be steered away from LSU .. to this day steve is still bitter that he had to split time at QB with david woodley .. who incidentally took the dolphins to the super bowl ..
To add insult to injury, Woodley's success as a rookie early in that season resulted in another Miami QB being released (guy from Stanford), being picked up by the Saints, and that resulted in Einsmingers release by the Saints.
