Same shite you get in Louisiana if one of ours go to some where other than LSU. LSU fans are no different.

With him going to LSU the newspapers should lose his name exept in his hometown newspaper. When they leave the state to go to school who really cares about him except his hometown? Bye.
Well, at least they arent bitter.

It's called the hope scholarship according to my Bama friend (I've personally never heard of it). Apparently, people believe that states that have a lottery are allowed to put athletes on this scholarship and beat the scholarship limits. He believes that LSU can offer more full scholarships to our athletes b/c of louisana's lottery. He believes we have an unfair advantage (especially in baseball).

according to the comments, he is selfish for wanting to play at LSU since they have a history of going to Omaha and winning titles.
He should want to go to a different school and help them get to Omaha

From what I have heard about this kid is that he will have trouble qualifying, and if drafted (which is highly likely) he will sign and play pro ball.

outofdelta you should be ashamed of yourself for commenting on something you know nothing about. For you to say MS state and Ole Miss need to raise their facilities to par with other SEC schools is absolutely incorrect. I know Ole Miss' are superb especially after the expansion last year. THe fact that he choose LSU tells me all I need to know..........HE must really like corndogs!

Could be. He kept calling it the hope scholarship. However, I told him he was full of it b/c there is no way the NCAA would allow some schools to have such a huge advantage like he was describing.

It was definitely an advantage previously, but I'm pretty sure the new NCAA rule re roster limits and minimum % requirement basically negates it. We only won one NC with it anyway.

tops program is what they r talking about its a great program that awards kids that score a certain score on the act and have a certain gpa higher the combination of the 2 r the more money they get and its sad but true that most other states dont offer the same program but i figure they also have some scholarship programs that we don't offer but it does give louisiana schools a recruiting advantage

TOPS is for Louisiana residents only.
Sweet Jesus.

LSU does absolutely benefit from TOPS. As some mentioned, it allows us to offer a substantially larger amount of scholarship money to OOS kids. It's far from the biggest reason LSU's baseball program has been successful over the years but it's definitely a reason.

Obviously, I'm uneducated as far as this topic goes so bare with my questions if you will:
How does the NCAA allow us to offer larger amounts of scholarship money to OOS kids with all of the new scholarship regulations in baseball?
Is the TOPS program an academic scholarship that covers part of an athlete's dues that otherwise wouldn't be covered by his/her athletic scholarship? For example, a kid gets a partial ride in baseball but he qualifies for TOPS so it covers some of his dues that weren't covered by his baseball scholarship? Is that where the advantage comes in to play?
