I got a couple of filets for dinner tonight, the only problem is I live in a complex that doesn't allow grills. There are community grills out by the pool, but it's too damn cold and I'm too damn lazy to go that route. So, I'm left with broiling them in the oven. Any advice???

what about a cast iron grill pan or skillet? My apt doesn't allow grills, so thats what I do from time to time..usually works well..
doesn't take long to cook them though

Trust me....saw this on Barefoot COntessa.
Brush the filets with vegetable oil, crack fresh pepper on them, sprinkle on kosher salt.
Get the cast iron skillet as hot as you can get it...sear the meat on each side and then all around the sides
Put a pat of butter on the steaks and finish them in the oven at 400 degrees for 5-7 minutes. Let the meat rest under tin foil for 10 minutes.
Juiciest meat I have ever experienced.

Stainless Steal 18/10 12-inch skillet
This pan works great on putting a crust on your steak. You can find one for cheaper. I guess this doesn't help you now...but in the future.

you can also saute it in a pan in butter.
throw in thyme, bay, shallot, crushed garlic clove (skin on). continually baste it with a spoon as you cook it, and periodically add butter to cool it down as the butter will burn....you could also add a touch of water to cool it down as well and continue on with your basting.
you can end up using a lot of butter but you are leaving most of it in the pan--it's just easier to baste if there is a ton. plus it's a filet, it can use the flavor imo
