I have eaten at Soma and liked it, but need a place on Westhiemer.

I like Azuma. Not on Westheimer, but not too far. There's one in Rice Village on Kirby and one downtown.

Saw this thread the other day and forgot to reply.
In my opinion, the best sushi restaurant in Houston is Blue Fish House. Cozy little restaurant with fantastic sushi and a very relaxed ambiance. It's located on Richmond just east of Kirby in the same lot as the Hobbit Cafe.
I've been to most of the other places mentioned. Ra actually has good sushi, but if you're not completely uncomfortable in the restaurant, then you're probably too drunk to be enjoying the sushi.
