Is her really that our of shape? He's only been out this season. I was told he spent early in the season working out hoping to be picked up by another team. Not saying he should play, but just curious on the notion that he is old, fat, and can't play.

There's a difference from just being in shape and being in game shape. He hasn't even practiced since last December, he'd have to make a gigantic re-adjustment to the speed of the game.

Exactly. Therefor you are in no way qualified to make the "football shape" determination

You're still here retard? Okay so the people who are qualified to make that decision(every NFL teams front office) determined he was no longer good enough to play football, reference his NOT PLAYING IN THE LEAGUE THIS YEAR. But yea maybe they were all wrong and Deuce was just taking time off to transform his body into being a young Jim Brown.

FWIW, I don't think he'll play either, but why did he practice with the team the other day?

He was signed as a PR move and was put on inactive status(I think that is the term). He did not practice. It's partly ESPN's fault that alot of the bullshite hysteria started with this in the first place because they started the talk about him being able to play.

I wonder if we were blowing someone out in the super bowl and deuce was still inactive and we put him in towards the end of the game, would that automatically forfeit the game

Here is the issue with activating Duece. Everyone on the active roster except Brunnel has a role in the game (all the backups make up the STs), so activating Duece just for sentimental reason will result in the Saints being short-handed.
SO here is the scenario, would the emotional lift of Duece being in uniform and possibly getting some meaningless carries be more important than having your full roster available??
I really don't have an answer to that...

I would be one pissed off player if I had busted my arse all year and was on the active roster for most of it, only to have my spot taken for Duece to make a ceromonial run. What the Saints did yesterday was great for Duece, but I think that will be about as far as it goes.

I know he's inactive, but is there a rule that he couldn't dress out if he wanted to. Maybe just dress out, lead the team out and go back to the locker room and put his warmups on.

So I guess in your world fans aren't allowed to make determinations unless they're NFL players?
I know you. You're the guy that says, "Whatever. They'd kick YOUR arse" when somebody says the NJ Nets suck.
Your profile says you're a mechanic. So does that mean you're not allowed to say "he shoulda made that catch" or "that was a bad play call" since you're just a ratchet-spinning grease monkey?
Bottom line, Duece, like most athletes after retirement, gained about 40 pounds and in no way looked anything close to being ready to play in an NFL playoff game.

The Saints signed him just to acknowledge his contribution. They have absolutely no intention of actually putting in a game. He was winded just running onto the field yesterday.

He will play ... The guy will help on short yardage plays and goal line situations. He's been out of the game for 11 months and he has been running since. It isn't like he has forgotten how to play game... He will play... He will probably have the same amount of carries as Mike Bell will get if not more.. What has Bell done lately?

Dude, trust me on this one thing. Loomis and Payton have absolutely no intention of ever putting Deuce in a game.

payton pulls a rudy at the end of the superbowl.

Yeah OK... We will see... Deuce is a beast and if he is healthy enough to play the game and I think he will play..
