Did anybody else grow up eating peanut butter and Steen's syrup samdwhiches?

No but that's probably the only thing I haven't eaten with Steens and now I'm doomed to try it. I need that like I need a hole in the head. On the other hand I have two big jars in the pantry of Steens and plenty of peanut butter.
I'll get back to you.

Yep, and used to go there on Sundays after Mass as a kid and whittle / eat the sugar cane stalks out in the yard. Those were the good ol' days!

I load up with jars to bring back to Tenn, every trip back home.
When I was a kid, my mother would make popcorn balls with it, after boiling it down until it made a ball when dropped in cool water. I think I'll make some soon, in memory of MOM.
