With Conan O’Brien ratings slipping faster than Tiger Woods’ endorsement appeal, TV executives are telling me that informal discussions have started to occur within 30 Rock as to who would be the home-run replacement for the hysterical but sagging redhead. The name on everyone’s wish list? Jerry Seinfeld.
“NBC just can’t carry on like this. ‘The Tonight Show’ has lost 52 percent of its viewership in just one year. The November ratings will be the show’s lowest in 15 years. They would be idiots to not be having the replacement conversation,” a source tells me.

I figured this wouldn't work. Conan had built a nice cult following in his 1130 time slot but I didn't think it would work in the Late Night slot.

Put him back at his late time.

daniel tosh is the best option. he once begged for nbc to hire him as a late night talk show host. problem is, old people won't like him and his ratings wouldn't be good either.

in order to raise ratings, they'll have to hire a clean humor, boring, leno-type guy who old people can identify with

I wouldn't watch Seinfeld either.

Yup, network television, outside of sports and a few television shows is a dying breed.

NBC sucked the life out of his show with the new time slot.

it's definetly not the same show, conan is caught between trying to keep his old base of viewers and trying to appease the old people which doesn't work.

Put in Seinfeld or Leno. Conan needs to go back to the Simpsons

Seinfeld would be a grand slam x10. But I doubt he'd want to do it.

How's bout Larry David?

Better yet, split time between a couple of guys. The talent would stay fresher.

Well, Leno is killing everyone with his shite ratings. The NBC local affiliates are way down due to his show. So Conan has a smaller lead in thanks to Leno. I do agree Conan doesn't work at 10:30 though. His schtick is more suited for 11:30.

Or WOULD do that. I saw him on the show once, and one of the things they talked about was how he hated fakey celebrity conversations, which is what 2/3rd's of that show is.

Howard stern is the answer. His deal at Sirius is up next year and he's talking about retirement. I could see him take this challenge and dominate for a couple years and then walk away telling them to kiss his arse.
