Seriously, that is one POS logo. It looks like a scary-cheesy graphic cartoon. I see that and I think Bolshevik. What is wrong with an N and a sword?

Don Carthel, head coach at West Texas A&M University should be the first guy they go after if they want someone that's a proven winner and someone that can bring excitement to that terrible program.

Before Coach Carthel got to WTAM they had won a combined 7 games in the 4 years before he took the job. In the 5 years he has been there he has won 52 games, 3 conference championships, made 4 NCAA Division II playoff appearances and has broken almost every school and conference offensive record. He runs the same offense that Mike Leach and Tony Franklin runs. The best crowds they've ever had at that school has been under his watch. If the administration at Nichols wants the best guy then he is the guy they need to get to lead their program.

I hope Don Carthal and Mickey Joseph are in the hunt for sure. Mickey is a hell of a coach and was a hell of a player. Don has a proven track record of taking over bad seeds and molding them into good programs.

Why the hell is Kent even being hired? He is a freakin joke and doesn't even have respect from his players now. He shouldn't even be a collegiate coach. He would be another worthless hire.

All in all, whomever it may be I hope they don't share the funds from the First Down Club with the rest of the athletics. If they do share the funds, there will be a lot less money donated thats for sure.

That's more applicants than I expected for the Nicholls job. I have to question how accurate the list is though, because the first name on the list, Atterberry, is actually the head coach at DII Texas A&M Kingsville.

He's done a pretty good job of turning that program around and was in the running for DII coach of the year.

Anyone have any info on who the true frontrunners are?

UTiger, what's the deal with the First Down Club? Is that like the NSU version of TAF?

Yes, it was modeled after TAF. Was donations for football, in order to recruit, etc. The AD froze the funds and has moved it into the Colonel Club, so the underfunded Women's sports will have funds. Most of the members are done with giving.

Jackson family says that Nicholls would not match Hud's salary, so he would not take the job.
