Inexpensive (but decent) gas grills

Am looking for a good, inexpensive gas grill for my future son-in-law. Any suggestions/recommendations?

What's inexpensive to you? For Christmas we got the Duo grill. It is half charcoal and half gas. It's $250 at Academy and Lowes price matches. We really like it a lot

I wouldn't buy anything cheaper than a non stainless steel Weber. I have wasted my time with the cute grills that claim to have all of the bells and whistles for $250, but they are garbage. Get something that will last 10 years. I think you can get the bottom of the line Weber for $325 or so.

I've never used or seen anyone use a burner on the grill itself. We always just cook whatever on the stove if we need a burner.
I'd move up to that four burner Char-Broil Lowe's has on their site if you want to stay right at $200.

Sounds like yall are getting off to a bad start.
You should think enough of him to get him a charcoal grill. You could get a nice Weber kettle grill for less than a crappy gas grill.
Show him that you respect him and think he's man enough to use charcoal.

My side burner was my best friend for a week after Gustav.

He's already got a charcoal grill. He says he wants a small gas grill for his hunting camp.
Personally, I prefer charcoal also.

I bought one from Sears, Kenmore, for $100 in 2000 - still use it 2-3 times a week - it works great - I've changed out the burner 3 times, and the drip visor - that only cost about $20 each time

My gas grill is going on years now but I have no idea how old it was when I got it. We had a neighbor in college who threw it out becasue it did not work any longer and was too rusty.
well a wire brush, can of hihgtmep black spary paint, a new burner, a new push start clicker, a new grill surface, and some rocks all for under $60 and it works great.
Best part was he came over for steaks about 2 months later and remarked how he really liked my new grill and wished he could find another like it as he had one "just like it"

That is awesome! some people are just lazy - I hate to throw things out, I like fixing up something old - it usually works better than the new stuff

This is a char-griller advance model. I have one and really like it. If you cover it and oil her down, it should easily go ten years.
Even if it rusted out next year, I'd get another. i like it that much.

Yeah we bought the cover to go with it. We've cooked on both sides and we are very pleased with it. We are going to get the smoker that you can attach to it very soon

Had this one...
But it didnt have enough cooking capacity so I bought one of these
New grill
and fitted it onto the hitch mount. Have used it for the last 2 years, and it keeps on grillin.

Had a few "cheaper" grills and the burners rusted out on them all. To replace them would cost as much as the whole new grill. Finally bought a Weber, so far, after 2 years, not a spot of rust anywhere.
