I must say, the Senseo makes a damn fine cup.
Any other ideas/secrets?
Does fresh grinding really make that much of a difference?
Any people that use cold drip or french press?

I make Cuban coffee from Bustelo on a Mr. Coffee espresso maker. I have the metal stovetop espresso deals, but almost never use them.

Makes a big difference to me. I try to buy whole beans whenever possible, and grind them. I'd imagine that the roast date ultimately plays the biggest part in the taste, though.

I've been watching videos of people making French Press coffee on Youtube, and I'm really tempted to try it out.

I like Whole Foods "Pleasant Morning Buzz".
Excellent, strong taste, and it really does help wake you up.
Grinding's definitely important, but I don't think you have to do it for every cup you make, as long you seal it airtight.
If you wanted to order something from another part of the country, I'd say Stumptown is about as good as coffee gets.

Despite suggestions to the contrary, never put coffee grounds in the fridge/freezer. Among other reasons, ground coffee is like baking soda in that it easily absorbs odors.

Best coffee is freshly ground and brewed with a french press. Favorite cup of java is home made americano with freshly ground beans and a bialetti espresso maker.

I use a Baratzo conical burr grinder with a Capresso MT-500 brewer. It works nicely. This is what is most important, top to bottom.
1) Use distilled water.
2) Clean everything regularly.
3) Observe 1 and 2 and keep them holy.
4) Oh, and only if you have done 1 and 2, I do recommend the Capresso. It heats the water better than Mr. Coffee and does a better job of extracting the flavor.
5) The Baratzo's conical burr does a better job than a blade grinder. Just make sure you brew immediately after the grind. If you really care about your coffee, for God's sake do not grind it the night before. If you actually buy it ground you should be perfectly happy with Folger's.
6) Remember to use distilled water and keep everything clean. Just want to be sure I didn't forget. Good equipment won't overcome bad fundamentals.

This, and I use llave espresso with warmed and frothed milk. I'm intrigued by the french press though, wish I knew someone who had one of those contraptions I'd give it a spin.

Surprised anyone in Louisiana even knows about this brand. La LLave, Pilon and Bustelo are all perfect for making Cuban coffee, but Bustelo is usually the only brand that you can find at a large supermarket. There are international grocery stores that carry La LLave and Pilon, but I'd imagine that most non-Hispanics that aren't Florida transplants wouldn't be familiar with them.

1. heat filtered water to just before boiling on stove
2. grind fresh beans....i prefer River Roads creole roast (course grind)
3. add ground coffee to french press (i use 1 tbsp of coffee to every 4 oz water)and stir
4. let brew for 5 mins
This is my all time favorite #1 cup of coffee. If you have thought about the french press but never tried it do yourself a favor - it is indeed a nice treat if you love coffee.

If you really wanna taste the difference, get the Community Dark Roast, Whole Bean and grind it before brewing. It's a great cup of coffee.

I bought one of these about a month ago. The K-cups coffee things are ok, but you can also use your own coffee/tea for brewing as well. Greatest. Thing. Ever.

This... got one about 6 months ago and love it. Might I suggest Emmeralds Dark Roast K's. In Laffy, they got em at bead, bath and beyond. Newman's Own (Paul Newman) dark roast is the shits too!
