He's from Florida and went to Alabama. So he's biased.

are these two players we're currently recruiting who might not qualify or two current players? The bit about signing them anyway is a bit confusing. Thanks.
Everyone sounds so shocked that a Newman kid could dick around in school. I'd suggest you get to know a wider sampling of their graduates.
to everyone who has posted on this thread, well done. It has been a long time since I've read through a page of posts and been this impressed the level of thought. I guess that's a testament to the movie's ability to create discussion. It kind of blows down all of the doors. That, and the Movie/TV is pretty civil, by TR standards.
The movie's ending was realistic in that there was no round happy summation of old Vineyards rejection of his past. I think it might make the point that white washing the past can not be done, which speaks volume about how some approach the issue of racism in the US.
Will there be racism? Sure the US is built of a basis of relatively constant immigration. The people who arrive most recently will always face the lingering eye. What's really missing from the debate about racism in the US, and probably elsewhere, is how it CAN NOT be viewed in terms of black and white. Asians, Latinos, Middle Easterners, and Indians (subcontinent), all factor in. I am constantly amazed by how little is made of Black/Latino relations particularly in urban areas.
To use political term, this is an SEC "big tent" issue. We can all come together on this one.
Hurt has really good smaller roles. It think it's a testament to the actor if they can take something small and make something special out of it. Check out his retired CIA operator in Syriana and his kills it in History of Violence. Kills it.

few statements succinctly describe a place, or at least a sports culture, quite like this one.

He single handedly thrashed better overall teams in HS because of his athleticism. I would have liked to see it as well.

1996--We had convincingly taken down then no. 1 Florida only to lose to Ole Miss the following week in achingly pathetic fashion. Plus it was a day game and really hot. Had I not been been with a perspective supplying non-football fan or ten years old at the time, I might have done something drastic.

agreed, 100%. I don't get the fascination about Community, I think it tastes pretty bad. If I'm drinking regular Joe then I go for CDM with chicory. But what I really like are the Latin American espressos that they started carrying in supermarkets with the wave of immigration after Katrina (at least that's the way I remember it). Examples: Llave, Pinchon, and Bustelo. Good stuff, strong, fragrant, kicks you like regular coffee does not.

this sea bass lives at very deep depths and lives for a very long time. Because of that its rate of procreation is very low. When it first hit the makret prices were considerably lower. You over-fish a product that can't naturally keep up with demand, and the price will shoot up--it's been kind of amusing to watch.
