Devery Henderson at LSU

When Devery Henderson first came to LSU - was he a running back that converted to slot receiver or always a receiver?
I know Josh Reed was a RB and went to WR - but watching the Saints last night I got into talking about Devery at LSU and I seem to recall him being a RB when he got there - then going to WR.

Pretty sure he was recruited as a RB and converted to receiver.

He was a RB when he got here, with number 24 if I remember correctly.

Henderson fumbled as a RB in the Ole Miss loss during 2001 season. After that he was moved to WR the next year.

THANKS - that's what I recalled too -- RB out of HS - but turned receiver because he was taller and we were loaded with RBs at the time.

seriously. i remember when Toefield ripped apart Arkansas and Auburn in consecutive weeks in 2001. wish Miles wasn't a run by committee coach, it's always beautiful to watch one RB just own a defense.

Devery converted to WR late in the 2001 season, at least part-time. Became full-time WR in spring of 2002.

That's what I was going to say. Man that was a really tough loss. Then out of nowhere LSU sneaks in the backdoor to Atlanta with 3 conference losses and Saban's legend starts at LSU.

He was a track guy converted to a football player.

Running Back from OHS. The kid could run in high school. My parents went to the game last night. I am sure my mom is going to be a chatty kathy with Devery's mom at the gym tomorrow.
