It was a dream team, but it was actually a possibility wasn't it? Even media outlets were reporting that each of those guys were rumored and/or negotiating.

walker probably regrets taking that NMSU job

He should.
Chavis did a great job with our D this year but Walker would have made them insanely good imo.

I would assume that:
Crowton stays through the Bowl Game but is busy finding a soft place to land out west in the interim.
Miles has more than likely already started putting out feelers which is why belowpar is making good "guesses."
The new OC is given license to hire people to fill in the openings on his staff. So Porter/McCarthy gives the new OC at least two spots to put "his" guys in. Stud leaves and that is three spots for the OC to fill
One of the new Asst Coaches has to replace Porter as the lead recruiter in Texas, that is a huge position to fill.

still woulda been Janzen, and maybe even worse than a robbery with him being so close to Welsh.

I wouldn't mind us trying to implement pieces of the new offense during bowl practice
but with the amount of hires we would have to makes it unlikely

Is LM and GC on the outs with each other? Or, are you just thinking GC is being forced out under pressure from higher ups?
Post on another site stated eyewitness report (not Ch 4) of Les and Crowton having a "conversation" on the plane. I thought it was BS but the timing of it with this from Belowpar is interesting.

you would have to be hiring a guy that is coming off the street or coming from a losing team that didnt' make a bowl game. Or you would have to hire a NFL guy that is out of the Playoff race. Don't see any of that happening.
Plus putting in pieces of a new offense with a new OC in the 2 weeks of practice for the Bowl could potentially jeopardize the team's performance in the Bowl Game. Don't see that happening either.
I think they will take advantage of the NCAA rule about HC being able to make more recruiting trips when the staff is short handed just like they did last year with the DC hire. Miles will announce the new staff officially at the end of January but the rumors will already be out there of who he is going with because the LSU offensive recruits will know and they will be talking.

I'm in full support of these 'gueses' taking place, but what happens to recruiting with mccarthy and porter leaving, who are supposedly two of our strongest recruiters on our staff?

I don't doubt it for a second. Your record here is impeccable. If the Crowton guess is accurate, what would be your best guess as to the reason or reasons for his departure?

I dont hate Crowton, it's just time for him to move on and for us to move in a new direction. Thanks for 07 Crowton and good luck in the future.
