It should had been 2 secs on the clock...like I said, the coaches in the booth should have relayed to Miles who then should have grabbed an official with 3 fingers in the air pointing at the clock...maybe the replay official would have sen this and buzzed down to make sure.....all he has is the clock on the video feed....which clearly showed he was down with a whistle blowing at 2 secs.

Back in the day when La and Ms were having the hunting/fishing license wars someone put up a big sheet as a sign on the La/Ms line on Highway 19 north of BR. Sign read "If La is the Sportsman's Paradise, why do you come to MS?" Someone wrote underneath it, "To take a shite." I almost wet my pants laughing. Poignant don't ya think..

the ref has to confirm the catch and call for the clock to be stopped. there is your 2 seconds.
In either instance the clock should have been stopped. If he did not catch the ball the clock stops on the incompletion. Tolliver caught the pass is clearly on the ground, thus the play is over. Since this is a first down the official should stop the clock. It is possible the TV clock is not compatible with the offciail game clock, but if it is then there should have been at least two seconds when play resumed.

Charles Scott did vs UGA. But hey, lets not do what has worked, lets run what we want, regardless.

I agree that it is when the official signal to stop the clock, but then you have games like Notre Dame vs USC where the game is over, but they review the clock, see that there was .1 second left, and put it back on the clock.

Not so surprisingly, no one is mentioning how the official did everything in his power to enable you to get that play off.

The ref literally stood over the ball and waited for JJ and your team to get set. The rule is he signals the clock to start when the chains get set. The yard marker on the sideline even dragged his feet getting the marker set, but he's not the one they wait for, as evidenced by the ref setting the ball and moving back before he was set.

If you converted on that play, Ole Miss would've had a legit gripe on their hands for that assist.

Could be, but at least we grouped all our 'screwings' in 1 season. It could be worse, we could have just lost a national champ opportunity.

LSU did not get screwed and it was not payback. This happanes ALL the time. 2-3 secpnds run off before the ref calls time. He has to make sure it is a catch, then not a fumble, then he has to call time, which takes time. Happens all the time on pass pays Even when catch is confimred right away, 1-2 run off ALL the time.

those are often on incomplete passes or also they review the clock when the refs actually calls time

The clock review and time put back on the clock in South BendOver was as bogus a call as you'll ever see.

The replay official put 1 second back on the clock, since that's when the ball hit the ground incomplete. The clock isn't dead until the official blows his whistle, which takes time for everything to be confirmed and actually blown dead.

In the replay, the official closest to the play was running over to the play, but never signaled anything with his hands before the clock hit zero.

Like Pete said...it's a good day when you beat ND 2 times in one day.

The clock stops when the official on the field signals for it to stop.

The rules state the clock doesn't stop till the ref waives his hand. When he did, their was one second. Miles should have got in a refs face and argued that 3 seconds left and asked them to review.

How is he going to do that? They are running down to the 6 and the closest he can get is the 25.

The D lost this game. OM should have never scored more than 12 points. The tackling was horrible. We had enough off to win this.
