LSU chose Miles...

What makes you think they could find someone better this time around?
Other than Saban it seems like LSU has had a bad case of coaching hire fail for decades.

Cause Alleva appears to know what the hell he is doing. If the basketball coach is any indication, I'll put my trust in our new AD.

Because most LSU fans think Bill Parcells and Jimmy Johnson are both dying to come here. This is the best coaching job in the country...

for one, different people are in charge of hiring now... not that Skip did a really poor job or anything

First of all, there is a new athletic director in place. It's pretty obvious that LSU recently hit a home run with their hires in both basketball and baseball.

Miles fit the Saban template. Moderate success at a second tier school.
MSU<MI
OSU<OU
That was the reasoning.
Now perhaps we can poach a successful coach that wants an upgrade.

I love it; the Ole Miss fans are trying to convince themsleves that LSU will never return to national prominence.

LSU also had pretty crappy facilities, a fairly meager salary and a damn crappy AD in Joe Dean. He didn't hire coaches to win championships, he hired coaches to save money.
LSU in 2009 is nowhere near the LSU of the 90s. We have TAF, top notch facilities and can pay very well for championship caliber coaching.

I guess things could be a lot worse, we could still be holding out for our first SEC football title since 1962....

Don't place your betts on Alleva. He may know basketball but he botched the Duke Lacrosse fiasco. You place too much credit in him.

Well anything is an upgrade than this. I know Stoops hasn't won a BCS bowl in some time but I think he would be a part of the mix and I like the way he runs the OU program. Thats who I would want. Good Defense and power running game. He somehow always has a decent QB

+1
I'm interested and exciting about what Alleva will bring in when the opportunity presents itself in a year or two.

Saban did rebuild LSU into a power, but in a way it was a coaching hire fail. LSU knew that Saban would bolt for the NFL when he got a chance.

They decided to go cheap when the hired Miles and it burned them.
I think they would pay top dollar for a coach that is on top of things this time.
Plus Skip wouldn't be around to muck it up. Bertman wanted more of a yes man on the cheap than a big time coach that wanted to run the show.

Seriously I can't wait until Nutt has his infamous 3 or 4 win season at Ole Miss and the rebels start calling for his lynching.

He got one coach from Stanford. Maybe he could land another.
