as he does at bama...this topic is very confusing to me but it seems to me that saban recruits a much higher number than everyone else and then he gets rid of the ones who don't do as well...he pushes a lot of kids out..i know the sec said there could only be what 26 recruits a year...was saban and nutt the reason for this? can someone clarify this..

Coaches over-sign all the time. Especially in their first few years at a program.
Mississippi State has been signing 35+ guys a year for the last 20 years.

They oversign when they take over programs that have not had the talent they are (sadan/nutt) are capable of bringing in, then flush out the dead weight... Not uncommomn.

Nick didn't have to do that when he came here as Dinardo had recruited well.

+1. Won the '01 SEC championship and finished 7th in the nation with about 90% Dinardo recruits. The cupboard was far from bare. Les also was met by a cup running over with talent. And guess what? If Miles left in January the new coach would drop to his knees and thank the Good Lord for the stockpile of talent. All three guys were fine recruiters FWIW.

DiNardo recruited ok as far as talent, but out of his last couple of recruiting classes only about half of the kids made it into school.

LSU had about 60 players remaining on scholarship in DiNardo's last season. The attrition was utterly amazing.

You've got some good replies here but you might want to try the topic on the recruiting board (if you haven't). Probably get some more in depth info there.

Name the starting DBs that Dinardo left.
I guess since Danardo left so much talent you are implying that Saban and Jimbo were much better coaches?
