Never heard of a gateau na na as a chocolate cake. The gateau nana I've always had was more like a shortbread tart with a praline like filling.

Cheesecake is what my parents make.

Now this is a cake with melted American cheese used as the icing.

They love it. Whatever.

Doberge Cake

My grandma makes this with about 10 layers. She also uses that melted fudge icing that she pours over each layer instead of fruit flavors (no one in my family likes fruit in their cake). It's a beautiful thing.

I have heard that some Cajuns say that a coconut cake is traditional, that doesn't make a lot of sense to me. A doberge is a tradition in our family, the aunt who made them died a few yeaqrs ago, no one has picked up the torte, so to speak.
