Miles shows coaching weakness.....again.

With Jefferson out, Lee was forced to play with little to no action this year. Why? It's not as if JJ has been lights out this year. Lee could have played one or two series a game every game this year. That way when he had to play, it wouldn't be such a shock. Miles did the same thing with JJ last year. He never played at all, despite Lee's struggles and took a couple of games to feel comfortable when he was forced to play. Lee had experience, but it was "bad" experience from '08. He could have used confidence building experience from playing success in the right situation. Our boys played their hearts out and deserved to win. At LSU, there are no such things as moral victories.

I just don't agree. Either run a 2-qb system or don't. McElroy isn't a stellar qb and his backup doesn't come in the game. The only time the backups come in is in garbage time. Now, if you want to run the 2-qb system...then bring in Shep. JL and JJ are both pro-style QBs.

Exactly what I have been saying since early last year.
ESPECIALLY if you don't have a lights-out QB, then let him sit a few snaps when he is struggling and let someone else in. You never know - you might discover something. And you might be able to talk the struggling QB on EXACTLY what you want him to do when you put him back in.

i can't fault the coaching wholesale. Sure, we can always say what if. I was surprised that Ridley wasn't back in the game after his touchdown.
NO, this staff and the team lost their nerve. We came out with confidence. the last 3 minutes of the half we went back in our shell just trying to get out of the half.
Same thing at the end of the game -only it started early in the 4th quarter. and i'm talking about the offense, who let us down again. Mainly by not holding on to the ball. we left the defense out there too long. this is a good defense but they have a hard time pressing 3 & outs.
we flat out wen't back into our shell. I do see signs of improvement. we should finish 9-3; and i am optimistic we will be 10-2.

Miles isn't the greatest with player personnel.

And if LM would have done this, you would have bitched about JJ needing to get all the reps he can! People like you look for anything to bitch about!

Thanks for the worst post I've read all day.
JJ is our starting QB and is young. Therefore he needs the reps. There havent been many blowout wins where JL could go in. And JL has a lot of game experience. Sorry you think it is all "bad" experience and therefore doesnt count.

Same shitty coach, get over it!

I told you, Bertman's lazy didn't even look for a coach when we hired Miles. Our typical half arse way of doing things will continue to bite us in the arse.

Another douche bag thread. Complain if they win, complain if they lose. Complain if Lee is the QB, complain if Lee is the QB. The real fact is you complain at everything. Does your ignorance come naturally or you have to work at it?

Although Miles is an excellent, kind, tough, and smart coach, coaches need criticism just like the billions of other paid workers. First, some continuing mistakes that are unjustifiable based on past experience.
1) Fielding a confused offense:
The quarterback and team are either not experienced enough or not coached well enough for sophisticated substitutions and a no-huddle offense. Fans have to hold their breath before most offensive snaps (because of the delay and shifting) waiting for some kind of procedure penalty. The procedure penalties are a symptom of the confusion going on in the minds of the players even AFTER the snap. Huddle up, call the play, and snap the ball. Trust the quarterback with only as many audibles as he can handle.
2) Not putting Russell Sheppard in the game and leaving him there; and not giving him the ball especially when we had Alabama on the run in the first half. That was a great opportunity missed.
3) Running the option to the short side.
Bottom line: Good recruiting and talented players on offense are being held back by mediocre coaching. A well-executed simple offense would not only have scored more points but also would have kept the ball out of Alabama’s powerful offense just long enough to win. Miles is smart enough to do better.
Second, mental mistakes many amateurs could see:
1) Going for two points long before the end of the game; as a result, we were two scores away at the end of the game. This robbed our players of spirit on their final set of downs.
2) The most glaring: In the second half, stopping LSU’s overwhelming first half pass rush; a good run defense can occur if the pass rushers are properly coached. Besides, LSU was being mowed down. For goodness sake, what were they waiting for? To be fair, they might have been waiting for the offense to move the ball, but that was not happening consistently because of the three reasons above, at the least.

You got Meyer and his offense
You got Saban and his defense
You got Petrino and his offense
You got Nutt and his wildcat offense
You got miles and ummmm....?????
Offense-Power I wit da 250lb fullback up da got over and over with the same result
Defense-Sit back and let'em dink and donk all day long and let the qb sit back there all day and pick lsu apart. Is it a coincidence almost every qb lsu has faced has had the game of his career against LSU? Stafford, Snead, JPW, Troy QB, Shocley, the list goes on and on.
Personnel Decisions?? a joke
Clock Management?? a joke
Pre snap discipline?? a joke
His specialty the OLINE??
Oline pre snap discipline?? a joke

we really haven't had a lot of big leads this season to get Lee into games as much as you would like to see.

The above does not seem to dumb to me. Sums up the overall coaching problems and makes plenty of sense.

Any coach (and it may well be many/most of them) that doesn't give their backup QB some snaps as the season goes is making a pretty huge and moronic mistake.
