In Tuscaloosa.
Curley beat Stallings.
I STILL can't believe that happened.

I remember watching it and thinking that it was only a matter of time until Bama woke up-right here-no right here-i'm sure it's coming-and then it was over.

Crazy bout Curley! We let him go too early IMO. He would have beaten Bama every year. He had their number.

I was living in St. Petersburg, Russia at the time. It was like 3am and I called WJBO and got them to put me on hold so I could hear the game. At $2 a minute, I'm glad they won.

Please tell me you're being facetious, or else tell me you don't live in a zip code that starts with a 7

It was an 11am game, and the Tide were on a long winning streak, if I remember correctly. The Tigers were 24 point underdogs. Curley beat them when he was at Southern Miss.

Watched the replay about a week ago, and we just outplayed them as a team even though we weren't supposed to be as talented. The team kept on playing hard with a lot of emotion, and Bama was flat and made costly mistakes. Several turnovers.

Sound familiar?

I was at that game. We drove over with no expectations we could win. Best visit I ever had to Bama!

actually curley should have been.. an assistant.. and PB the HC....

and he should NEVER have been FORCED to hire a certain offensive offensive coordinator pun intended

I went to that game just out of sheer loyalty. As optimistic as I am,I didn't think we had a chance. Eventually, some Tide fan will join this thread to remind everyone Jay Barker didn't play. Well,Alabama had beaten Southern Miss the week before 40-0. Hate to say it,but LSU was about as equal as Southern Miss.A few weeks earlier we suffered our worse loss ever, 58-3 to Florida.

I do remember before the game and early in the game, LSU was just as loose and confident as they could be and Alabama was about as flat and lethargic as they could be.

I was in my sisters wedding at the time of the game. Never understood weddings during LSU games but that is another story. I was on the alter with a headset listening to updates passing it on to the groom.

I had just moved to Bham and was invited to the game by my Bama fan brother-in-law. Before the game was over, he was wishing he had invited another Bama fan.

That was my first time in Bryant Denny. I can still see toomer running over the dline like a crazed dog. Kevin mawae was a beast. Gene stallings had nothing but great things to say about the tigers after that game too. He earned a deep respect from me after that game. I still think he is one of the greats of the sec. Class act.
