two things:
1. Opie hasn't learned about what really happened to Donna (but he's about to)
2. The club hasn't learned about Gemma's rape

I think Gemma ends up telling Clay and Jax in order to get them to quit fighting with one another.

You could tell she has had enough of all the bickering... She sits them both down and tells them at the end....their disputes are momentarily set aside to plot revenge on the "bigger picture"

The "Opie killing his best friend, then having his best friend tell him what really happened with his last breath" angle is better than just telling him and him killing Clay.
