I just read this whole thread and must say:

1. Iowa will get beat by OSU so this whole thread is pointless.
2. If they happen to win out, they will be in the title game over any 1 loss SEC team. If not, the BCS will look even worse and have more people calling for it to be done away with.
3. Is this Dukke character mentally challenged? Serious question. He seems a bit off and takes this all a little to personal.

A lot of teams haven't looked impressive during the regular season and still won the NC. I remember LSU in 07 losing to mediocre teams like Kentucky and Arkansas and also going to the wire against mediocre teams like Auburn, Ole Miss, Florida, South Carolina, Tennessee and Alabama. I would say they got plenty of luck and bounces go their way that year. I also remember OSU in 2002 have a number of close calls but keep winning.

Also, Iowa is one of two teams in the top 10 that have wins over two top 20 teams. A lot of teams don't even have one including LSU.

I agree, but this isn't really about LSU, you would have to be a big homer to say we have a shot at the MNC given what we've seen so far. Iowa is doing all they can do in beating the teams scheduled, and Arizona is a good OOC game, but i think the Big 10 is pretty bad this year.

I'm not saying Iowa is the best team, cause I don't think they are. But, if they manage to win the rest of their games then they deserve to be in the NC game if Texas loses and I think they will.

I still think they lose one of their last 4 games, but give them a 30% chance of winning out so it is still possible. Either way, this has been a season I will never forget.

Also, people underestimate Iowa all the time. People can't believe that a team that never finishes in the top 30 in recruiting rankings can beat their top 10 team, but they seem to do it a lot. They have beaten Florida, LSU, South Carolina from the SEC in recent bowl games and played Texas to the wire. So they are capable of beating a top team if they make it to the NC game. Just wish Shonn Greene would have came back for his Senior year.

I think if Iowa goes undefeated they should be in over an undefeated Texas team. I believe those two conferences are about the same. SOS should be the deciding factor.

Given the love Iowa is getting, I honestly think that Cincinnati may have a stronger case if both go undefeated. Cincy DESTROYED an Oregon State team that is considerred upper half in the Pac-10, and has basically destroyed everyone they've played. They'll play (as of now) 1-loss teams in Pitt and WVU, and a tough UConn team before this season is over. They haven't struggled against shite teams like Iowa has either.

In the end, Iowa's SOS rankings are predicated on two things. The Big Ten SOS is bumped by playing overrated ND and outside of tOSU playing USC and Iowa playing a decent but average team in Oregon State, their OOC has been BAD.

Now, that being said, Texas' OOC and so far in conference schedule has been the worst of all the undefeated's outside of TCU and Boise St, and they've had ONE impressive game.

Should be an interesting end to the season as usual.

Cincy won by 10 early in the season, hardly crushing Oregon state. If you look at cincy's wins they closest was by 8, then 10 then big time double digits. Oregon state is known as a slow starter, has been under Riley for years. They also replaced 7 starters on the defense and several on the offensive line. They will help out cincy though because its about time for them to start a string of wins, its why they played so well against SC (also they matchup very well with them). Not excusing them but I am just saying cincy didn't crush osu.

Slow starts aren't really an excuse. Cincy was starting a several new starters this year themselves.

It was a more impressive win than USC's who is somehow in front of Cincy despite a loss to a team with 5 losses.

My point is that Cincy will have just as legitimate a claim if not moreso than Iowa, especially since the Big East has outperformed the Big Ten in BCS bowls as of late.

Like I said, not excusing them but you can't compare what cincy did to what SC did. OSU knows that team and plays them very well as well as matching up very well with them. That is a conference game. btw.........cincy didn't start a new qb, tony pike started last year for cincy. The game would be different if played now, its ashame osu starts out this way but they do.

What does this have to do with what we were talking about? The thread originally was about Iowa.........tOSU???? They have no claim.

Sorry, typo on the tOSU thing, meant Iowa. I am so used to tOSU being the Big Ten team people are like, "Can we really put them in".

On the OSU/USC versus OSU/Cincy game I see your point, but we can't keep excusing things by saying OSU starts slow every year. While it may have happened in the past, doesn't mean it will happen this season. Team's like LSU and UT haven't really been given the benefit of the doubt this season in that sense.

As for Pike, you're right. Who the heck am I mixing him up with? Maybe its that they had like 5 QBs last season.

If Iowa goes undefeated, they'll get in likely, but I don't see them as much stronger than Cincy or more deserving that was my point.

LSUintheNW, what's your take on the Oregon/USC game? I think Oregon is a team a lot of people are forgetting about, and how they aren't in the NC talk is kind of absurd. I realize that the Boise loss may end up killing them unless Boise St. loses, but they are the most impressive team to me thus far into the season.

Solid defense and explosive offense, and both keep getting better each week.

It's as if SEC fans feel the SEC is as good as years past.

The SEC is an amazing 28-5 and 7-3 against BCS schools. They couldn't be a whole lot better...and haven't been in years past.

You could be right(technically are), but I'd much rather take on the SEC champ this season than in 07 or 06.

(I'm speaking in terms of every other NCAA team. I personally don't care to talk up Ohio State any more this season)
