It was about 15 people then...and a lot less popular. Only a few of the devoted fans then who could put up with the shitty interface...

IMO, the ease of this site is what makes it so popular. I haven't come across a message board who's functionality is as easy to use for the common idiot.

Somebody put up a link to many of the old archives the other day. Called it a time machine or way back machine or something like that. Search for that and you can probably read some of the old stuff.

Yea, even when I joined in 2005, topics would stay on the first page for at least half the day...

Now during normal traffic, we're talking less than an hour and after games...sometimes minutes.

...Are you suggesting if the functionality weren't so good that we'd lose a lot of idiots?

...Hey Chicken! screw some stuff up, damn it!

Tennessee beats Miami. Miami beats FSU. Miami beats VA Tech. OU beats Nebraska.
Ark and LSU face off as undefeated teams, with LSU winning. LSU beats undefeated Tenn in the SECCG.

LSU faces OU in the Dome. LSU wins.

There you have it.

any idea why the 180? did the NC's really raise some people's expectations to a level of absurdity? Is technology to blame?

Expectations have shot up like a cosmonaut. It was also a smaller and older (as in over 16) group back then. Lots more tolerance for rumors and lots more rumors, too. I recall before the days of user registration and post counts we seemed to discuss baseball more than football. Maybe it had something to do with following the Tigers' NCs...
