A reminder: As long as Iowa or Texas lose a game, LSU probably controls its own destiny

IF Iowa and Texas are undefeated...
LSU and USC with 1 loss...
Who finishes 1&2?

Unless, I suppose, that LSU got some extra mileage out of beating previously unbeaten Alabama and previously unbeaten Florida from the pollsters.
Iowa's non conference slate is very unimpressive.

I don't think it's as clear-cut as that...there would definitely be strong support for putting a 1-loss SEC champ into the BCSCG over an undefeated Iowa.... Gary Danielson is no "BCS guru" but he said the same thing himself yesterday. His order of preferential treatment was:
1. Undefeated SEC Champ
2. Undefeated Texas team
3. 1-loss SEC Champ
4. Undefeated Iowa
5. 1-loss USC (can't remember exactly where he had this, he may have had this above Iowa, can't remember)
not saying it would happen (and it will probably be a moot point in the end), but it would be pretty close one way or another when the final numbers come in.

Are you sure we're behind TCU??? We should be #8 according to my public school math??

How is USC #4 in the Harris

What is Iowa's remaining schedule??? Can we really afford to have another sorry, slow, unskilled Big 10 team get crushed in the MNC game without the BCS losing all credibility??

I still think there would be a strong push to put a 1-loss SEC champ into the game over an undefeated Iowa...
I think that goes without saying really. There's actually no question in my mind that it would be pretty close. IMO, the SECCG would probably put the victor over the top of Iowa, definitely in the computers and also there is a decent chance it would push the SEC champion over in the human polls as well... likely all it would take is one of the two human polls to rank the SEC champ over Iowa, given the SEC champ would probably already have the computer edge.
It most certainly is not "clear cut" that an undefeated Iowa would go ahead of a 1-loss SEC team. That's my main point ... it would be close, and there would certainly be lots of talking heads making arguments both ways.

Dude, you know LSU is gonna lose three more games right?
Since you already know this, please give your tickets away to the games.

Yes it is. Iowa would be ahead in the computers (in fact, they might be ahead of undefeated Texas in the computers). And the voters would NOT want to leave out an undefeated BCS school unless there is a compelling case. Cincinnati has the only realistic chance of being left out, and that will likely be because of their computer score.
1-loss LSU would be the only SEC team that could be "close" and even they easily get left out for Iowa.
