Perriloux EFFECT

"Maybe the blame falls instead on Ryan Perrilloux, the much-ballyhooed recruit who was kicked off the team after the 2007 season. And that has some merits." Gary Laney 2theadvocate Oct 13, 2009
This is what I have been saying. It is the Perriloux effect. His departure has sent this team, esp the offense on a completely different course with very negative consequences.

I think him being off the team is an overall positive, I just feel for him to some degree.

You're right. The sad thing is, Miles did the right thing by booting him and it could ultimately end up costing him his job.

Perrilloux set the O back 2 years. It sucks b/c the dude was a smooth football player

Not blaming LM, but Laney makes the point that no qbs were recruited the year before RP or the year after RP. Some rantard was making a similar point about the O-line.
Oh, well. I hope Alabama doesn't clobber the Tigers

I was watching footage of how well Perriloux ran the option in the Florida game in '07. He is definitely missed.
I really miss having a quarterback who doesn't look scared shitless.

If Lee throws half the INT's that he threw last year, perhaps things are different...

That's true. Take away 3 pick sixes from Lee and he's probably still in the running to be starting qb...

Actually, if none of Lee's picks had been returned for TDs, things would be different. I think most are hung up on the number of pick-6's much more than the total number of INTs.

Just goes to show that all positions need to be weighted differently... A d- or o- lineman is maybe worth taking a risk that the kid is a thug.
Can't do that when selecting a field general. Your future QB needs to be solid on and off the field. Wouldn't I give my left testicle to have McCoy leading my Tigers right now.

That right there...
And that every QB post-Perriloo has been a "work in progress" that is at least a couple of seasons away from greatness.

Not sure the reason why not before (Saban knows best), but I can understand why we couldn't land a QB worth a flip after signing the #1 QB recruit in the nation.
Not sure how many top QB's would have enough confidence to think they could overtake the most highly rated Lousiana HS QB to come along ever.

Blame Les, it's his fault.

The pick 6s were strange for sure. Never have I seen it's like previously. I think that the STAFF will not be able to look past it. With 3 points put up in the last game, it is time to make some sort of adjustment....

Ridiculous. Any "top tier" team is no better than the backups. Its a coaching staffs responsibility to have capable backups.
Blame RP all you want. I blame the staff for not having an alternative plan EVEN though RP showed problematic behavioral signs LONG before he was dismissed.

If he stays we never here of JL. JL is who he is so far as playing QB. RP leaving set this O down a sink whole. Not a complaint, just the way it looks from here. JL has nothing to do with RP and his knot-headed behavior...All due respect of course, Mr. Chicken...

If you look at the 05 and 06 signee list, quite a few are no longer on the team including 4 or 5 OL like Z. Thomas,J. Jones, Matt Allen and E. McCoy. Those guys were studs. I think all were 4 stars. How about Odom, Singleton and Giddens.
Loadholt just disappeared then re-appeared at OU
starting at left tackle - like magic. P. Jones, S. Corely, O'Hair, Deas. These guys were pretty good as I remember. That's a huge hole. I can understand losing 2 or 3 in each class, but 7 or 8 is too much fallout. Something stinks here.
Were these just bad recruiting decisions or is there something else going on? Thsese guys would be upper classmen now.
No QBs on team from 04,05 and 06. Not many teams can survive that, much less be ranked.

Could TAF, the LSU 'fan' base and Joe Aleva all be that freakn' stupid?

The move was based in integrity...something, sadly, that Ryan was not in touch with. I still think he is a good kid and hope he fully realises his massive potential.
