I blame the staff for not having an alternative plan EVEN though RP showed problematic behavioral signs LONG before he was dismissed.
If we had had better quality back-ups waiting in the wings, maybe the coaching staff would have dumped RP sooner, sparing us a lot of the damage that the long, drawn out RP deal became.

Okay, so it had nothing to do with the Malveto decision. Nothing at all.

The bottom line is that if the departure of one player derails our program for two years, then the problems run deeper than that one player.

no...his departure and Lee's play last year put the team on a different course...

If Lee throws half the INT's that he threw last year, perhaps things are different...

I'll 1-up ya.

Hatch doesn't get concussed and things are ALOT different.

Like 10-3 last year and 6-0 this year kinda different.

Missing the point of the perriloux effect changing the entire balance of the team. Thus, far no one has been able to run the O with any consistency. This year is beginning to look worse from the O stand point.

I count Hatch as part of the Perilloux effect.

I don't buy this.

The offense averaged 30+ points per game last year. The defense could not stop anyone.

Defense was the problem last year, not Lee

You're right. The sad thing is, Miles did the right thing by booting him and it could ultimately end up costing him his job.

Yea, you hold your breath waiting for that to happen.

Of course we all knew it was Perriloux's departure that would put us in risky QB situation.
I support the dismissal of Perriloux and knowing what I know at this point, I would still not want him back.
It also shows who ill prepared we were as a program for a QB replacement. That is a coaching mistake as no team should have it's future on the shoulders of one player.
I hate that Lee would shoved into that position, when he he was no more prepared than any non starter on the bench. Right now I wish we had a look at Lee, as Jefferson has been figured out by D.C.'s and he will be neutralized with that similar 'deer in the headlights' again this season.

Its been 2 years and coaches cant use rp as some kinda crutch for their failure. bottom line is they didn't develop our qbs. Losing RP hurt last year but we had time to fix it and we didn't. this is on leslie and gary

This.
The backup has to be ready to step in whenever he is needed. Look at South Florida. Look at Florida. Look at Oklahoma. Those are guys that can play if they need to.

In regards to the "Perilloux Effect," will we be thanking him next year when our QBs are more developed than they would otherwise have been had he stayed until his senior season?

That was not totaly Lee's fault last year. They threw him to the wolf's without any support at all. They figured that he could handle it and he could not especially when Hatch got hurt. They waited until the end of the year to bring JJ in but buy then it was to late. And then he didn't know a lot more than Lee it was that they had an intire month to get ready for the Bowl game and they developed a plan for him to succeed with.

Only so much the STAFF can do to keep some one straight. Either he has his head on right or not. What we saw in the news is only what we know about. How much other nonsense was going on?

It is likely that the STAFF felt it had little choice.

Maybe the blame falls instead on Ryan Perrilloux

That is such bullsh!t! Miles is to blame for not having another QB on roster ready for the SEC..

So what if RP was here and blows out a knee in the first game of the year would people still be saying the same thing? Plus, wasn't RP's character a question mark anyway?

This is what I have been saying. It is the Perriloux effect.
Most of the 'hate Perriloux' crowd on here will never admit it, but this is the main reason our QB situation sucked last year and this year... instead they make up lies and stories about him. He wasn't totally innocent, but he also wasn't as bad as people make him out to be. Probably deserved to get kicked off the team, but he doesn't deserve to be treated the way he has on here either.

I sported wood after watching him hit a wide-the-frick-open Doucet against VT '07.
The 'frozen rope' 60 yards ACROSS the grain of the field to Byrd in the SECCG was a thing of beauty as well.

That's the point. We will not see that again. JJ had one less year to develop and RS thrown in too early as well in MO. Oh, well.

Having one player no matter what position go down or get booted should not shut down a top 10 program for two years. It is ludacris to allow anyone to lean on that crutch!
