My brother and I went to see McKinney play Frisco Friday night (to be fair, Frisco has lost 18 games in a row). McKinney won 35-0 and now for Zach Lee.

The guy is tall of course and a little skinny and moves well. He was 12 of 15 for 224 yards and threw one bad pass that could have been another TD (behind the guy). The guy has an arm which explains why he is a baseball prospect. He throws 20 yard "ropes". He has great touch and threw a 20 yard TD pass by lobbing if over the defender (the ball was probably thrown about 35 yards in the air). He ran well on some keepers but did fumble one time at the 5 yard line of Frisco which they lost.

And the guy has the absolute best block of the entire game. He handed off, the RB was hemmed in near the sideline cut back to the middle of the field, and Lee just clocked a pursuer sending the guy flying up into the air about 2 yards backward which took out another chaser (1 block, 2 guys). Of course, they didn't see him coming, but still..

Bottom line: I would rate the guy a high 4* and maybe a 5*. Scouts who rate him a 3* are smoking something.

Great arm....good mobility...good decision making...accurate passer...tall...doesn't panic...and blocks better than LSU's current OL (sorry, couldn't resist that one).

Just pray the guy doesn't sign a pro baseball contract because he IS the real deal. My brother was skeptical going in because he is in a 4-A and not a 5-A district but he was very, very impressed with the guy.

I always thought this guy was a bigger committment than people realized. We'll be lucky to get him away from the MLB though.

His mom came on here when someone posted about Lee was going to MLB. She said that it got on her nerves when people posted false information.

Yeah the baseball part of the deal has had me thinking that we are just wasting a scholarship with him. I see him riding the pine behind RS and CG for a couple of years and then going projust before he would be getting his shot.

Not saying do not sign him up just saying I am not as thrilled about getting him because I just don't see him staying long enough to matter. If I am wrong then it is a pickup to celebrate.

You guys saying MLB don't have a clue..

I would put it at about 90% to 10% that Zach ends up going to LSU to play both sports.. Also, Zach understands that he will be on a FB scholarship.. Not baseball, so he knows where his bread is buttered..

BTW, Zach and his family were in Baton Rouge this weekend and loved it.. He is psyched to play on that field for that staff..

To add to what the OP said.. Zach is tough as nails.. As a youth he won multiple state wrestling championships.. I may be a little biased as I am his uncle, but I think he could play either Golf or Basketball at the collegiate level, if he concetrated on either sport. Oh yea.. Forgot to add.. He is in the top 10% of his class...

Dano, thanks for coming here to set the record straight. Most of us are extremely excited to have your nephew coming to LSU next year and compete for national championships in two sports.

Agreed, some of us just think he's too good to be true. The kid is a real talent.

I am guessing you are saying the option?

He runs the option quite frequently now in HS.. While he is not a speed merchant.. He is capable of running like that former Texas A&M/Louisiana boy Bucky Richardson.. Hard nosed!

He is a much better passer than Bucky though..

Dano, which sport does Zach like the best? And, a different question, which sport do you think he will eventually play professionally?

Your nephew threw a HELL of a block in the Frisco game. Yes, it was a blind side type deal where the running back turned to the center of the field, but Zach clocked the guy and took his cleats in the air. My brother also said he saw the Frisco guy take out his own teammate after being hit, so he got 2 for 1 block.

HELL of a block!! I didn't see a weakness in his game. The only bad pass I remember was throwing behind the WR in the endzone. I just wish you guys had a better defense and you could really be a contender....offense looks great!

It used to be that if you asked him in Baseball season he would say Baseball.. In Football season, he would say Football.. I think Football has grown bigger and bigger with Zach each year. His parents (my sister and her husband) have done a great job raising him.. He works very hard and never assumes anything. He never gets into trouble and NEVER gets the big head..

Personally, I think the lure of playing football at LSU is intoxicating to him.. Also, some of you guys just don't realize how difficult it is to be drafted in the top half of the 1st round of the MLB draft.. I think it is highly unlikely.

A million dollar signing bonus just isn't that much money now a days.. Uncle Sam gets more than half... Minor leaguers have to pay most of their own expenses and the success rate is much lower than you think.. Its not all that it is cracked up to be..

Anyone that says that Zach is a lock to be drafted in the top half of the first round is nuts and that is what I think it would take. If every HS kid that they say is going to get drafted in the first round did you would have about 800 first round draft picks...

I am just the uncle and have absolutely no say in this.. If I did, he would be going to Lubbock next year to play for the Red Raiders.. I sincerely hope that Zach has all of his options open to him, but I really think the sure thing is a free education at LSU and a chance to play in that stadium.. I just have so much confidence in him that I think ultamately he could do either (my bias again)..

BTW, My sister, brother-in-law and mainly Zach have so much respect for your HFB coach.. He is a genuine family man and his sincerity is what swayed Zach's decision.. That and a chance to keep playing both sports..

Finally, to answer your question.. I think that Zach just doesn't want to pick a sport at this juncture.. He just isn't ready to give one up yet.. So I think he will be coming to Baton Rouge next summer..

Excellent point, and this can be applied to all of the major sports.

Welcome, this board appreciates the good posters as they are sometimes hard to come by. The LSU fanbase is an extremely passionate one. It comes with its good and bad. That being said, I would advise you to ignore some of the malcontent on this board.

LSU is the flagship university in Louisiana with no other university in the state being in the same realm in terms of football success or number of fans. Therefore you have many fans that are bandwagoners. There are many fans who did not graduate from LSU, and yet still constitute a portion of our fanebase.

True LSU fans support their players, and/or recruits future players, as we know most of them are good kids who try their hardest. We are happy about the very real possiblity of Zach enrolling next year.

I appreciate your honestly about Tech, and cannot blame you for wanting him to go there. I hope that we make you, and the rest of his family feel very welcome when you visit to see him play, and hopefully LSU can become your favorite SEC team.

Although I love LSU, I try to stay objective in the evaluation of their football team and coaching. I must say Coach Miles is consistantly said to be a very genuine, family kind of person. I do believe he genuinely cares about his players, coaching staff, and LSU. People will constantly critize his decisions after a game day, which they should, but IMHO his intergrity has not waivered. Knowing how he handled the rumors of going to Michigan before the SEC championship, how he handled the transition of the old defensive coaching staff, the number of junior who chose to return the play their senior year for Miles and how he seems to reward and stays loyal to his hard working players with senoirity(to the lament of the fans albiet in the face of fairness) speaks volumes about his character.

Thanks for commenting, and we are all very happy Zach made the decision to become a tiger!

We have already become Tiger fans. On the day Zach committed, they became my wife, son and daughter's 2nd favorite team.. Additionally, if ever a day was to arrise when Zach was leading a LSU team against my alma matter, I would pull on some Purple and Gold and root against my beloved Red Raiders..

Blood is thicker than water...
