Bowden's postgame Q and A ... he has no idea what's going on

wow ... bobby bowden has really lost it. check out his Q and A after the BC game. Take note of the back and forth about GT's WR D. Thomas

GT doesn't run the wishbone, and if that's how he'll prep then F$U will get destroyed. How do you not even know one of the star players of your opponent, especially when you're in the same conference.

Q: Is the passing attack with Thomas a worry?
Bowden: Well, in the wishbone, the running game is 90% of it. I don't know of anybody in the wishbone that comes out throwing the ball all over the field trying to beat you with the forward pass. You run the ball the so good, that you start neglecting their receiver - I make that singular - sometimes they will send out more than that. The receiver, all of the sudden he is wide open and they end up killing you with the passing game. But it is still a running game offense. It's an offense you don't want to get behind. You don't want to be two touchdowns behind because again, it's a ball control, running offense primarily.
Q: What can you say about Thomas specifically?
Bowden: Is he the receiver?
Q: He is one of the receivers. He caught about 180 yards last game.
Bowden: Was he there last year?
Q: Yes sir.
Bowden: See I haven't looked at Tech yet. I'm still fretting over yesterday. We will get on Tech this afternoon. I remember the guy they had last year, I thought he was excellent. They have another guy too?
Q: Yeah, they use a two wide receiver set.
Bowden: Are they in at the same time?
Q: Ah, yes sir.
Bowden: I haven't studied them yet. We just got through grading the Boston College game. I know this, if they have the guy back they had last year, they have a good one.

That is fantastic. Obviously Bowden doesn't really do any of the preparation and is purely a figurehead at this point, but that is still great.
I hope they don't gameplan for Bebe and keep waiting for GT to run the wishbone

FSU is a fairly reputable school academically. That they allow Bowden to trot out in front of the national medaia to spout gems like these is unbelievable.

I heard a recent Bowden quote the other day and I wish I had the link:
"How dare you guys try to kill a man while he's still alive?"

He was a "figurehead" back in 2001, I can only imagine how bad it is now...

That program has gotten very stale. They are getting crushed in recruiting by UF and now even South Florida is outdueling them for players.

Who isn't? But isn't FSU still bringing in occasional top 5 classes?

If there anything worse than the gems Bowden provides the media with in his pressers, it's the idiots who believes he is actually more than a figurehead.

WTF? I'm not trying prop myself or any other school here but fsu is maybe the third best academically in the state of Florida.

LOL. Freaking awesome.
But he's earned the right to go out on his terms.

I'm missing the angle on how that helps LSU.
I'd think it helps UF because it seems a lot easier to get recruits from Florida to go to UF as opposed to FSU when the FSU head coaching situation is as bad as it is now.

Man, that's actually kind of sad.
Or maybe he was playing along with the media's perception that he's old and senile. Kind of like Uncle Leo or Admiral Stockdale - "Who am I? Why am I here?"

I don't know, you ever see him during games?
He doesn't even wear a headset. He's just standing on the sideline basically watching the game like the rest of us.

I was just to trying to find a way to take up for him.
During the Miami game he was just standing alone on the sideline, arms crossed, no communication, for the entire final FSU drive in the closing minute. I don't know how he can take himself seriously...Based on that presser, he doesn't.

I know, it's nuts.
I live in Orlando. On the radio today, they were basically saying what will probably happen is he'll still be the head coach next year, but Jimbo will call all the shots and have full control of hiring coaches and what not. Or in other words, Jimbo will be the head coach, just not in title, and Bowden is gonna do absolutely nothing, just kinda be there I guess, lol.

Best of luck to him. Forgetfullness is no fun.

I originally thought that FSU and Miami's slide was helping LSU, like Brian Johnson out of Tally and D-Bowe outta Miami, etc..
But it is hurting LSU, because the weakened status of those two and the ACC, has helped UF dominate in state, and is on the verge of 3 of 4 BCS crowns..
Thank goodness that Shannon has Miami back on the climb, but FSU has work to do..
LSU needs FSU to get dominant in the panhandle, win some battles in the middle of the state..
Wouldn't hurt if South Carolina and North Carolina could start beating Florida for their state's top POY types either.

no doubt, FSU being strong is really only a bad thing for LSU when they pull a player from Louisiana, which isnt going to happen (routinely) unless the LSU program starts to tank
FSU being good and strong in recruiting helps to dilute the talent from teams who really make a living recruiting in Florida and Georgia, particularly UF, UGA, Auburn, Bama and even UT.
