Im one of the people that thought Angels and Demons as well as DaVinci Code was pretty enjoyable read. Not academic or non-fiction - just enjoyable.

His new book, "the lost symbol" is truly horrible - in multiple ways.

The storyline is very fuzzy and tries to draw from entirely too many things - things that never really come together. Or when they do come together, it is contrived as hell.

My understanding is that Opie will once again make a movie and Tom Hanks will once again play Robert Langdon. Geez.. its going to suck bad.

i cant believe Dan Brown spent 6 years for THIS

Well he already has two versions of a movie that sucks compared to the book. Maybe now he wants the movie to be better than or on par with the book.

I thought the da vinci code was a great read.

Thought the movie was terrible.

It really turned me off to angels and demons. I am hesitant to read it, but I refuse to watch the movie

I don't think Opie has ever made a great movie. He's come close a few times with Parenthood and Apollo 13, but he's grossly over rated.

Angels >>> Da Vinci

Don't let the movies stop you from reading it.

agree! Both were good reads, but Angels was much better IMO.

FWIW, I like the new book so far, only 1/2 way through it though.

I too thought the movie wasn't great. Haven't seen Angels on screen yet.

Angels >>>> Da Vinci >>>> Lost Symbol

I didn't think Lost Symbol was bad, just not up to par with the other two. It was still a fun read and I finished it really quickly.

i like the new one so far ... i don't have any issues with the story line... I went to DC two summers ago and knew D.B. was writing a book that would take place there... makes it more interesting when you've seen the places that are being talked about in the book.

Also agree that Angels is WAY better than D.C

i lived in DC for 3 years. I love the place and I am fascinated by it all.

But the story sucked. just my humble opinion

i agree that Angels Demons > Da Vincii >>> Lost Symbol

the one not enough people talk about though, that would probably make a great movie, is the one about the ancient stuff in the polar ice caps. book before angels and demons. it was pretty good.

So basically, the new book lets people realize that Brown isn't a good writer? Excellent!

i always new he wasnt a good writer - in terms of a highly cerebral pedantic tome that will be discussed in literature courses.

but neither was Michael Crichton, James Patterson, john grisham, tom clancy, et al.

rather - the stories are just entertaining.
